If this team does not trade him, I will be astounded completely.

This is TwinsWorld. If they did, I would be completely astounded.

Paying $6M a year for a player that is good enough and can do the job is okay.  The Twins might sign Kurt for a couple more years and platoon him with a backup catcher.

I should clarify, I don't oppose a Suzuki trade at all.  I'm not crazy about Murphy but I'd like an opportunity to evaluate him in MLB this year.  (Might have been nice to do the same for John Hicks...)

Listening to the game yesterday, they pinch-hit Centeno in the ninth, I'm thinking at the time 'one last at-bat for Centeno before they send him down and bring up Murphy'?

Thats my prediction and I'm sticking to it, Centeno down after the all-star break and Murphy up.

Suzuki just seem to get worse defensively. The white sox ran all over us. I don't want to keep Suzuki only because last time they tried and couldn't trade him they extended him instead! I wanna see a Murphy Centeno combo and Mitch Garver in AAA. If Garver plays well in AAA add him and bring him up in September. It would also be wonderful in we could pull a decent catcher in a Santana or Dozier or Nunez trade. Not holding my breath on that one though.

This thread is quite puzzling.

One part of the thread is talking up Suzuki as better than X, Y and Z in order to trade him while the other part of the thread thoroughly despises him.

It might be hard for almost everyone to believe but things could be worse than having Suzuki at catcher. He isn't a starting level catcher but the Twins have nothing else (I still have some hope for Murphy though) and it is really difficult to trade for or sign a good MLB catcher.

I would not, because of who runs it and his MO.  Matter of fact, I have Ryan capable of letting him have enough PAs to pick up the option...

Should they trade him?  (Heck yeah.  Yesterday...)

That will bring up JR Murphy and push Garver and his .273/.357/.434 AA slash line to AAA and to a September call up, to see whether one of the 2 might be the Twins starter next season or the Twins would need to do something else.

But Terry Ryan?  No. He'll keep him

Is Suzuki (esp with his axe bat hot streak) better than some catchers certain contenders have right now, so there is trade potential?

Yes

Is Suzuki the long term answer for a contender as a catcher?

No

Should the Twins keep someone who is not the long term answer in the C position if the want to contend?

No

Hope that cleared the confusion

This has not been the narrative on TD about Suzuki for the last 2+ years. People have wanted him gone and don't care about who replaces him.

The Twins should trade him this month but I think everyone should be prepared for the catching position to get worse before it gets better.
