Twins Announce 2015 Awards - Sano Gets Two

The Twins this morning announced their 2015 Award winners, voted on by the Twin Cities chapter of the BBWAA.

 

Calvin Griffith (MVP) - Miguel Sano

Joseph W. Haynes (Pitcher of the Year) - Kyle Gibson

Charles O. Johnson (Most Improved) - Aaron Hicks

Jim Kaat (Best Defensive Player) - Eddie Rosario

Bill Boni (Rookie) - Miguel Sano

Bob Allison (Courage, Leadership) - Torii Hunter

Mike Augustin (Media Good Guy) - Torii Hunter

Carl Pohlad Award (Community Service) - Brian Dozier 

Dick Siebert (Upper Midwest Player of Year) - Pirates LHP Tony Watson

Kirby Puckett Alumni Award - Julio Becquer

 

These awards will be presented at the Diamond Awards at Target Field on the Thursday night before Twins Fest in late January.

I sure didn't think anyone other than Brian Dozier would be team MVP at the All Star break, but congratulations to Miguel Sano on a great second half.

I suppose one bad outing where things get worked out afterword shouldn't hang over somebody's head indefinitely.

 

Am also surprised Dozier didn't fare better. But, this won't be the last MVP for Sano.

Not to mention, these awards were voted on BY THE BASEBALL WRITERS.

 

They seem to have no problem with how Hunter treats them.

Don't get me wrong, I agree completely, and I don't think the award is in any way undeserved.

Agreed.  Berardino got over Hunter.  Are you sure that Hunter got over himself?

Hunter is clearly loved in the clubhouse, by the coaching staff and by his teammates... 

 

And again, the Media Good Guy Award is voted on by the BBWAA Twin Cities chapter. Having been in the clubhouse several times this year, that was a pretty easy vote, I'm sure for all of them. Dozier is probably would have come in second, then maybe Plouffe, and there are a lot of good ones. But this vote was easy. (I mean, I'm guessing it was easy... I don't actually get a vote.)
