Sounds like he was lined up to start a playoff game (if they beat the Astros) but checked into rehab instead.  That sounds kind of serious.  Hope he gets well.

His statement is powerful in it's "my life, and my kids' life is more important than my job" way of looking at the world. Good luck to him.

He's saying the right stuff, and I hope the conversation continues to focus on his recovery, not on the Twitter jokes about his size and performance that tried to creep in after the announcement. (Twitter: worst thing every on the internet, or worst thing ever in history?)

This is really no different from any other illness or injury. He has a condition that will worsen if immediate treatment is not started. The sooner it is dealt with the sooner he'll return. I've never really liked him based on his public persona but I wish him the best in his recovery.

This sounds all positive to me. It seems dire and bleak to us because it's news to us, but surely he didn't recently develop this problem. It's probably been a lot of dark times for him. Good for him seeing some daylight.
