This is actually quite the rarity for the Twins. Normally, they're either good and they make the playoffs or they're horrendous.

There aren't a lot of near misses in their history.

Very appropriate the twins lose the elimination game to a crappy bullpen that Ryan failed to address, compounded by a manager who has zero clue how to manage said bullpen.

Hopefully the Twins can get a real GM in here and make a run, I would hate to see Ryan and his conservative incompetence waste Sano and Buxtons careers just like he has wasted Mauer, Morneau and Johhan Santana's

Time to go Terry, time to go.

I will say it's nice not to have Dick Bremmer's constant excuses for the crappy bull pen and poor play. Let 'er rip, Royals fanboy!

If you would have told me in June that Blaine Boyer would be throwing critical innings in October...well that would have made me very sad.

Oh dear God, what a **** show.

A shame to be eliminated by an inning like this. Should have been out of the inning tied but for Boyer's throw and a very close call going against us on Cain's route to first base. Still, to be the 19th team to be eliminated out of 20 is something to take pride in.

It has been a great season, sorry to see it end in such ineptitude!!!!!

Well there's always next year   :jump:    :jump:    :jump:

To be fair, we probably should have been eliminated weeks ago. The sloppy Astros kept us in it, but this was a mediocre club since the all star break.

Assuming Houston wins tonight do we see Kepler in the lineup tomorrow?

it doesn't matter. The twins are eliminated if they lose. Period

That's what happens when you feel the pressure, rather than applying it. Blown pitches, blown plays.

Good news for Royals fans. This team looks very good. Might have a chance against the Jays, but I kinda doubt it.

Kind of funny (in a not good Ha Ha way ) how they were always so much better at home -- and then once they turned it around for those last three good road trips, they seemed to lose their Target Field magic.  In the end, the good road trips kept them afloat and the home stands did them in.

Between this and the Gophers - I can only sense some kind of bad karma for the Vikes tomorrow.

Boyer's [hopefully] final appearance as a Twin loses us another game.

Can't wait until TR finds another mediocre veteran in the dumpster.

I hate being so negative... but guys like Pelfrey and Boyer have costed the Twins dearly this season. Yes, they had their peaks early in the season, but that doesn't matter when they're pitching like this in Sept/October.

Yup because the GM controls on how well these players perform, get injured, and pretty much every other aspect.

On Boyer's throw: He was next to the line and still moving that way when trying to throw. He had no path to throw the ball unless he got it over Cain's shoulder or head. Bloopers, nubbers, line drives, hit by pitch or walk--the Twins couldn't get Cain out.

Disappointment is hard for some people, it's understandable. They have my sympathy.

It's hard for me, but I am trying to balance it by celebrating the fact that the Twins played meaningful games in October and with the hope that this season was a big step in the right direction.

You seem to handle it pretty well though Gerald, you don't seem the petulant type to me.

It ain't over until it's over!!!! Thanks Yogi!!   :)  !!

Exactly. The ninth inning is ninety percent mental. The other half is physical.
