Given the temps, no ales will be brewed there.....

On a serious note, this just reaffirms that there is nothing special about Earth or even us, for me.

Well, there's still the magnetic field problem. But, yeah, this brings the discovery of some kind of life (at least vestigial) much, much closer, I have to think.

I still have high hopes for Titan and Enceladus.

On the contrary. Earth is and always shall be an Exceptional planet. A shining planet on a hill, and exempt from historical forces that have affected other planets. Love it or leave it!

I do love it, but if I had the chance, I'd leave it (if that meant going to another planet, not just to be shot into space and die floating in space). that would be so cool (the other planet thing, not dying in space).

This is pretty exciting stuff. I'm not sure what type of organism would live in these conditions, but it seems there could be some. On earth there are things that live in pretty hostile environments.

While salty water is better than no water, it will be interesting to see what they find. When we find a planet with actual standing liquid water, that is where life will undoubtedly be.

Yes, extremophiles are surprisingly found all over on Earth. Right now the Cassini problem is sampling Titan's atmosphere, and will visit Enceladus soon. I like the chances.
