Pet peeve relating to passwords..... Our company uses Bullhorn as our sales/recruiting database. This system prompts you to change your password every 6 weeks... It also remembers all of the previous passwords, and you're not allowed to use any variation of an old password.

I'm certainly not that creative to come up and remember a new password every 6 weeks.

Roster, plus number, from a favorite sports team. Rotate the team every quarter for security purposes.

Pick a word, favorite pet's name or something that's an easy go to, then start at 1 and just keep going up sequentially. At work we have to use 3 different types of characters and it has to be at least 8 characters long, so I chose a work-related word and I'm now up to number 39. So, you can start with Password1, then go to Password2, then 3 and so on. I sometimes forget what number I'm on but I'm always within one.

Unfortunately with this Bullhorn system it won't allow you to use any variation of your former password. So if I did change it to Password2, it'll pop up saying it's too close to a former password you used.

Okay, well that sucks ... then I suggest keeping a notebook handy and just write it down every time you change it. You can use poster IDs from TD so your password for 6 weeks can be MikeSixel, then CraigArko, then ChiTownTwinsFan and so on.

I don't want to be put into his system. That's almost as bad as having a photograph taken. Steals my soul (or lack thereof).

Seriously, I've used the team thing many times before. Of course, I used historical team rosters, not present day, so it's much more difficult to figure out. One fun one to use was the last Lou Holtz season in Minnesota. Lohmiller25 and Foggie14 aren't easily guessed. Even better if you use a sport with plenty of "foreign" names that wouldn't be common.

tell me more about it.....

Crossplatform multi-device secure locker for logins, notes, and software licenses. I use it via Dropbox to sync across Mac OS, Windows, and iOS. Has a browser extension that can be used to access/save logins in most browsers.

Uses solid encryption for the data store.

Reasonably priced and has family and team versions.

It's a chilly day in Austin.....

You know what will help turn things around? PIE! Because it's National Pie Day! Pies are delicious, except for the thick outside crust once the filling is gone. Sometimes it's too much crust, you know? Pies with graham cracker crusts are the best.

Today is also National Rosa Parks Day! On this day in 1955, Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on the bus when the bus started filling up with more people. She was arrested, and resulted in a civil rights movement.

Today is also National Eat a Red Apple Day! Preferably Honeycrisp apples, please!

National Pie Day in our house was last Thursday, when my wife baked the most delicious apple pie I have had in years. I felt guilty taking the last slice yesterday, but she insisted. :)

Hey, I did my part: I bought her a pumpkin pie at the store, the day before.

My son and I made the pumpkin pie last week, first time we've baked together in some time. It was nice. and it tasted great.
