Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I won't click on that ... and thanks y'all ... I made soup in the slow cooker yesterday ... had some for lunch today and it was really good. Then I read this. If they had a vomit emoji, I'd have used it.We live to serve.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Today is National Fast Food Day! I haven't partaken in a lot of fast food lately. Whenever I do, it's usually a local taco shop. If you could have one cheat day and eat all of the fast food you want without gaining an ounce, what would you eat?

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 It’s not just the calories that keeps me away ... if other repercussions would also not be a thing, then I’d probably be able to list a few things. Just thinking about it, though, makes me have to ... bbiab.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Five Guys, all the way. Been too long since I've had Five Guys.... They don't skimp on the fries, that's for sure.

I make myself walk. Like you said, without gaining an ounce. That not being the case, I don't do it very often. And I do just the Little Burger and Little Fries. The regular size? I. Can't. Even.

They're crap compared to fries, circa 1980.... Oh, and no carbonated beverage and blizzard as well. Blizzard is the drink...and it's mint oreo.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Tomorrow's the big day for stuffing our faces with great food! I'll be heading to my buddy's house for our 4th annual friendsgiving potluck. Him and his wife will be preparing 2 turkeys (one in the oven, the other smoked in the Big Green Egg) while the rest of us bring a side dish. What are you looking forward to eating tomorrow?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Deep dish pumpkin pie with a ginger snap crust ... yup, I'm making it. Yum!

jimmer Verified Member Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 My wife's Aunt Loretta Recipe Dinner Rolls. You haven't lived.Lefse all buttered up, with a little turkey and a little gravy roll up in it.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Lefse all buttered up, with a little turkey and a little gravy roll up in it.That's not the proper way to eat lefse, but it still sounds good! (Lefse should be eaten buttered and sprinkled with brown sugar, then rolled up and eaten. But the gravy way sounds like something to try.)

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 I've eaten it the proper way too, but for Thanksgiving, it gets changed up It sounds good. I haven't had really good lefse in a long time. My aunt used to make large batches of it every year. Since she moved away and is now deceased, it's been a long time. I regret never asking her to teach me how to make it! Maybe when I'm back living in the Cities I can check to see if Ingebretson's offers classes.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Deep dish pumpkin pie with a ginger snap crust ... yup, I'm making it. Yum!Well ... I had my first near-fail baking experience ever. First, I ruined the first crust in a very stupid kitchen incident. Then I didn't have quite enough ginger snaps to make a new crust, so I improvised and used some Biscoff cookies to fill out the quantity of crumbs I needed. Then, I didn't check while it was baking so didn't see that the top was getting a bit too done. Sigh! Fortunately friends offered a quick fix for me ... just peel off the little bit of the top that is overdone ... then spread whipped topping on it so no one can see the 'mistake.' Man ... I hope it doesn't taste like a fail!
