Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 This is the one my wife and I got for our wedding, along with about six different types of popcorn. We've still got popcorn left, and that popper gets used very frequently. Greatest smell ever!! For about $75, you'd have a popper and lots of popcorn, oil, and that special coconut butter flavoring that makes it so tasty! https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/nostalgia-trade-electrics-39-50s-style-stir-popper/1040487939?Keyword=popcornHave you used it to make roasted/glazed nuts or trail mix? It says in the description that it can be used for that as well, so curious if you've done that with it.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 You folks and your popcorn. Where is the mimosa bar?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 You folks and your popcorn. Where is the mimosa bar?Next door to the margarita bar.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 You folks and your popcorn. Where is the mimosa bar? The one thing from the 50s I'd like back....day drinking.

No, but only because we haven't tried (and my wife could seriously eat a room full of popcorn).
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 The one thing from the 50s I'd like back....day drinking.50s? Heck ... late 80s/early 90s I had drinks at lunchtime.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Seriously, no one goes out for lunch anymore and orders an alcoholic beverage of some sort?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Seriously, no one goes out for lunch anymore and orders an alcoholic beverage of some sort? I don't when I'm in the office, but on Fridays we have an in-house social hour at the end of the day. Company paid for.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Seriously, no one goes out for lunch anymore and orders an alcoholic beverage of some sort? Not exactly accepted where I work....

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 It used to be more relaxed where I work, but someone who doesn't work here anymore ruined it for all. Guy got too drunk when the company went out to watch the World Cup game, and fell asleep under his desk. Needless to say he was fired that afternoon.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Seriously, no one goes out for lunch anymore and orders an alcoholic beverage of some sort? Socially, always. Working lunch, can't, silly.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Socially, always. Working lunch, can't, silly.Years ago, when I worked in an actual office (as a receptionist), our department would go out to lunch fairly regularly ... always something to 'celebrate.' I'd always have a drink ... sometimes a strong one, sometimes two. I never 'ruined' it for anyone, though. But in one of my 'sillier moments' when someone came in to see the owner of the company, and I didn't believe who he said he was and asked to see his ID, it was a good thing the owner of the company thought it was really funny that I had just ID-checked the then Chief of Police for the city of Minneapolis.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Happy Monday! Today is National Guacamole Day! Specifically, National Spicy Guacamole Day! I celebrated this holiday 1 day too early by making fresh guac yesterday... Avocados are delicious, and they were on sale at the grocery store.Today is also National Pickle Day! Pick your poison today.... Pickle chips, baby dill pickles, whole pickles... The world is your oyster! Also, on this day in 1969, Apollo 12 blasts off to explore the moon once again. Charles Conrad, Jr.; Richard Gordon, Jr.; and Alan Bean were the astronauts on this flight.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 I LOVE guacamole. LOVE.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Guacamole, God bless you Aztecs. A corned beef sandwich just isn't the same without a good pickle.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 You guys know guacamole costs extra, right?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 You guys know guacamole costs extra, right? Heh, i told the poor woman that asks me twice a week I get why she has to ask, and we laughed.....
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 You guys know guacamole costs extra, right?Only at Chipotle... Which their guac isn't that great BTW.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I shall become leper outcast unclean here and say avocados are not my favorite. Mea culpa.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 If you have not tried this, put guacamole on a hamburger one time.... You will not regret it.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 If you have not tried this, put guacamole on a hamburger one time.... You will not regret it. Nah, horseradish. Or wasabi.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Nah, horseradish. Or wasabi.Yes and yes. Also, fried egg on a burger is TERRIFIC* *Trump lingo
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Yes and yes. Also, fried egg on a burger is TERRIFIC* *Trump lingoMay your arteries never harden.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 If you have not tried this, put guacamole on a hamburger one time.... You will not regret it. Only one time? I do it all the time. No regrets.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I love avocados and guacamole. But I don't want either on my burger, maybe other things, but not my ground prime rib burger, nope ... just not what I like, but whatevs. Pickles ... varies. The sharper the dill, it gives me heartburn. I like the sweeter bread and butter pickle. Fried pickle chips? omg, yes! With the right dipping sauce, bring it on.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Fried pickles.... mmmm. One of the go-to's for bar food IMO. That and chips with queso or guac!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Fried pickles.... mmmm. One of the go-to's for bar food IMO. That and chips with queso AND guac! FTFY. There's a place nearby me that has the best fried pickles ... I never liked them until I had them there. I wish they'd bring back their fried cheese curds, though ... omg ... BEST. EVER! Good thing I don't eat out that often.
