I keep running into this google security ad that says I have 13 viruses. I've run antivirus and it comes back clean but this ad keeps showing up on my Amazon Fire and then I have to open a new browser window to get back to TD. Anybody else running into this ad?

I had it once and ignored it. I'm guessing it's not legit, but who knows? But as a rule, I just tend to ignore those things.

Sounds like browser malware. Try running the Eset scanner and Malwarebytes.

Each launches locally on your pc, loads the latest detections before scanning. They've detected stuff that goes right through Defender, including lots of trojans and malware. I run them both at least once a week.

Yeah, I'd say malware. That's a huge one for scammers to play off of. You have me a bit scared - you didn't click the link in the ad, did you?

Seriously ... if your computer has 13 viruses, it's definitely got some sort of immune disorder and you should schedule a doctors appointment at once.

Or ... not seriously. ;)

This.  As someone who works in this industry, I can attest to it.  Most of those security ads are fakes, some go as far as to hijack your system and attempt to collect a fee (never pay it) to release them.  Your standard AV will typically catch about 75% of the viruses out there.  A tool like Malwarebytes will take care of the rest.

I went to the Amazon app store and downloaded malware bytes and installed. Ran a scan and didn't find any malware.

Then I looked at paulblair.com and it has links for sports jerseys etc. That is where the Google security advisory is originating.

I think the ball is in Brock's court.

I just now got the same thing for something called paulgrenwood.com

I only get this on TD.

I found an ad blocker for kindle that seems to work. Sorry, owners, but that google security ad was throwing me out of every thread.
