Just a pisser to blow a golden opportunity to get a 2-0 start on the West Coast swing. Making hay against the A's is important because methinks the Angels are going to be a rough ride.

A part of me wonders if Danny Santana turns that hard one hopper in the ninth into the third out. He's quicker to his feet, and has a better arm than Escobar.

There is only so much of this you can do.  Face it - it doesn't matter what Molitor does.  When we get into a battle of bullpens - we're almost always going to lose.

Especially with two bullpen arms (almost literally) tied behind their backs.

Possibly. There's always the chance Santana double clutches it or his throw is not as good, though. Lawrie has great speed, but I do wonder how he beat that out, considering how hard hit it was and Escobar made a clean play.

The teams two glaring leads lost this game. The no-hit 'defensive' catcher allowed the tying run to go to second in the 9th and the bullpen blew it in the 10th aided by 143rd stolen base we've allowed.

And therein lies the SS dilemma. Santana misses what appear to be simple plays, but can make that play. EE is more solid, but can't make the "great" play.

Escobar has no range, what was a diving stop for him should have been much more routine for a guy like Santana. Escobar is fine as a UTIL guy, but shouldn't be getting more than 200-250 PA a year.
