Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 There's something funny going on during Twins telecasts on FSN. Early in the season, I noticed a weird chirping sound, kind of like a gameboy or an old cell phone ring tone that occupies the pauses in commentary. I figured I'd get used to it, but it's still pissing me off. Worst part is that no one else that I ask knows what the eff I'm talking about. They can't hear it. Either Bert's jitterbug is blowing up non-stop or I'm losing my damn mind. Does anyone else hear it?

bizaff Provisional Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 When a batter is on deck, he sometimes puts a baseball doughnut on his bat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_doughnut). When he's up, he thumps the knob of the bat on the on-deck circle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-deck) to shake the doughnut off. The chirp is the doughnut clinking off the circle. This drove me nuts for the longest time till I saw the camera catch an on-deck batter doing it.

Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Did I say gameboy-like chirping sound? I meant to say bat-donut clinking sound. I always get those two mixed up. Boy, I must have sounded crazy. I'm definitely not crazy. Not me, no sir I'm not...(trails off)...
