Selling some of the Farm

Our farm system is spectacular, top 5 farm system around the league. But i feel like we should start selling part of that farm over the next year and try to get some decent players in return.

The starting pitching is pretty decent with what we have now and whats too come but still needs slight improvement. We also got a mess of offensive players that are starting too creep into major league contention.

I know at least some of these prospects wont make it too the "Show" but we should take a risk and package up a few and try too get a future top-10 catcher or a true top pitcher like Cole Hamels.

Offense:

-Adam Brett Walker, Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco, Josmil Pinto, Danny Santana(Future: Nick Gordon), Aaron Hicks, Kennys Vargas or Sano(Im pretty sold on Plouffe)

Pitching was a huge struggle for us over the past few years, but now it seems like were stocked full with good prospects. We got a abundance of Relief pitchers and even a few extra starting pitchers we could throw in a trade. I'd rather hold onto players like Alex Meyer, Trevor May, Tommy Milone(Still Young), Kohl Stewart, Tyler Jay, J.O. Berrios

Some pitchers we could deal:

-Lester Oliveros(Good Riddance!), Chei-Wei Hu, Stephen Gonsalves, J.R. Grahm, Stephen Pryor, Logan Darnell, Nick Burdi, Lewis Thrope, etc.

Some of these players have had decent MLB success, but some positions are packed with other future stars rising through the ranks. A good packaged deal could land us a star we need for a solid playoff push.

If you have any other players you know of that we should package, please list below.

Or if you have any other thoughts or criticism

Personally, I'd rather keep the higher upside type guys, especially those who are performing in the high minors.  Time will sort out which ones are going to be studs and which ones wont.

That said, I do think that there's going to be some trading going on, and I think it has to start sooner than later.  There's a roster crunch in the high minors for pitching, with a number of potential back end guys mixed with a few higher ceiling guys like Berrios and Meyer (assuming he starts again).  Not to mention that the rotation currently has 7 starters.   While injuries happen, I expect Ryan to move some of these guys sooner than later.  But personally, I'd like to trade off some of those 5 starter types, even if it's for international cash only.

On the prospect side, the farm lacks impact catching prospects, and there's not much to write home at the major league level either.  If the Twins are going to pay a pretty price in prospects or ML talent, it would be for a major league ready catcher with some upside.  Those types of trades are pretty hard to pull off though.

I'd be totally willing to deal prospects for cost controlled C and SS, but everything else not really.

Phillies can keep Hamels.
