    What would you upgrade from Keaschall? 160 GP with a .270 average and .364 OBP as a 23 y/o is not a liability by any means. Sure his defense isnt great but he had tommy john 2 years ago and has been learning outfield on the fly

    Don't be so cynical. Minter and Hoffman are pretty bad? That's just a troll comment right there. The prospects the Twins gave up are long shots to become actual major leaguers. Its unrealistic to think that Reyes, Hill and Pena will all be major leaguers. Odds are only 1 of them will be, we're talking about our #7 prospect and guys outside the top 15-20. Very small amount of them actually make it and contribute. Kremer is not really exciting but he's being brought in to be a #5 pitcher for us and give us depth we do not have. Maybe the Twins see something they can tweak, he could be a solid RP next year or a reliable spot starter. Hoffman can be a head case but he has absolutely filthy stuff. Better chance than not that he will be our best BP arm for the next 1.5 years. Minter is also a really good specialist and if he does well I could see him wanting to stick around for another year or two

    Everyone was saying the same thing about Buxton years ago. People seem to forget that in 2022/23 season he was absolutely awful. It took him awhile before everything started to clicked and that patience paid off. I remember how alot of the people on this site wanted Buxton gone, just like they want Royce gone. Royce has had a very similar trajectory as Buxton and I just believe we should once again be patient with him.

    Yes Royce, yes! I know Royce hasn't been killing the ball and popping off like what everyone thought he would be years ago. But he's been almost boringly consistly good since his call up. Being healthy and getting on base nearly every game he plays in is more important than the hot/cold hes done before. Lets hope he continues to get better.

    I'll always stand by Royce - I hope he continues to get better and proves everyone wrong. Non biased answer though is No. He's going to bring back nothing of value right now. Maybe a team sees the high risk high reward in him and flips a true lottery ticket player for him. No thanks we got enough. If you want to free up spots for players who can help over the next few years (Royce can be that) then trade Larnach, Bell, and Jeffers. Seems like everyone wants Kody Clemens to take over when in the off season they wanted him gone or as the very bottom of the roster player. Shoot even a couple months ago people were quitting on him. He's 27 and has missed the majority of his ML career due to injury. Lets see what he has over the next 2 months while hes healthy and actually contributing.

    I dont like the idea of selling low on Royce who is controllable for 2.5 years. Then trading for another 1B. He had a change of scenery and that was with St. Paul. I believe he's reached base in like 35 of the 37 or 38 games hes played in since coming back. He's finally showing real consistency which I'd take over his random surges and then going cold for weeks. Just let the man play

    Mariners would be a ready good trade partner for us to get a controllable SP. Gilbert, Woo, Kirby, Miller, Hancock, Castillo and Kade/Sloan not far behind. They may need to trade one of those for some offensive help this year. I'd love to grab Kirby if hes available, but Hancock would make the most sense to get. I read earlier in the year that he's trying out a new pitch that has helped him find a good deal of success so far. Tait would be perfect for them, matches up well for when Cal needs to DH more as he gets older. They're also well equipped for a deep playoff run so they'll need some ML players to help with that. They need some BP help and a RH hitter who can play outfield or platoon in the infield. Ideally Jeffers since Cal has a lingering oblique injury or else maybe Keaschall who I would hate to lose. They have Robles so im not sure Martin would help them at all. Maybe sell high on Gomez but that would hurt our BP quite a bit. Some combination of the above and some low level flyers

    I understand where you're coming from and you're not wrong. Theres maybe 7 or 8 guys that need some ML at bats in the OF and Roden probably falls towards the bottom of that rankings. Im not in favor of holding or buying at the deadline, more of a buy/sell approach and see how it plays out. But if they want ABs for all these guys then they need to consider trading guys with some value and thats Larnach. Martin, Keaschall, and Roden can all have some real value for the future Twins. Jenkins will be up soon, Emma is talented but that guy has never been healthy, Gabby is interesting but probably more like a RH Roden.

    Tbf we're still talking about SSS, over 200 ABs he has about a 235ish BABIP and pretty much all of the analytic sites peg him for a .250 BA. Doesn't scream elite OFer but he walks a decent bit and strikeout % has historically been around 15% I'd agree on getting more PAs for the younger guys since theres a little bit of a jam of guys with some form of potential. OF : Buxton, Keaschall, Martin, Roden, and then Jenkins/Emma when theyre ready/healthy. This is after trading Larnach, which like another person said is basically what Roden should become.

    Results can be skewed when its a SSS His .227 BABIP suggests he's been very unlucky so far. League average is .290-.310 depending on how hard you hit the ball. At the end of the day we're talking about 25 ABs so his potential is undetermined

    I mentioned in the other post about packaging Ryan + Jeffers to Boston, I didnt even think about the Dodgers. They would have the most beneficial package IMO, MLB ready pitching and 5 top 100 outfielders. Surplus of OF prospects could also help us fish for a controllable SP in the offseason. I hope we dont trade him to the Yanks... unless its a trade that would cause a riot on their Fan pages.

    Dodgers with Sheehan and River Ryan Brewers are tough, they have some elite offensive prospects but not much for pitchers that can help replace Ryan. Unless they want to ship off Henderson or Harrison. Yankees have Elmer, Lagrange, and Hess. Also Weathers and Warren that are young and already have MLB experience. None of them would really excite me so they're my least favorite Phills have Painter who has struggled mightly so far this year, his value is lower than last year. Nothing to crazy after that, maybe Gage Wood. Im sure they've done their research on Painter from last year. Red Sox have some pitchers but im not well versed on their guys. Maybe a Ryan + Jeffers package could let us raid 3-4 of their pitching prospects. I'd love Bennett or Tolle. Just please dont give us Bello

    If we can't extend Ryan then we almost have to trade him in the next 2 weeks. If its to the Dodgers, I would hope we could get 1 of Sheehan or River Ryan. They could atleast replace his innings this year and could be a good #2 or #3 by 2028 if things go right.

    I'm guessing it came from modern analytics and the push to be more precise with terminology. A pitcher with good control can consistently throw the ball in the strike zone. A pitcher with good command can consistently throw it exactly where the catcher sets up. With poor control, you're missing the strike zone altogether. With poor command, you're throwing strikes, but missing your intended location and leaving more hittable pitches.

    Control means he can throw strikes, command is throwing a strike in the right location. He can hit the target, he just can't hit the bullseye

    The Astros were rumored earlier in the year in trading Hunter Brown, I believe there is a rift with Brown and their GM (Also Brown). He had a shoulder injury earlier in the year and hasnt pitched like his former Cy Young self since coming back, could be some risk there but if the price is right he'd be an interesting pitcher to go after. Controllable through 2028. I think a package built around Roriguez + Tait could kick things off, they'd probably atleast want a pitcher back or two from the lower levels. Only downside besides the injury risk is that his agent is Boras.

    If the Twins are going to pay up some prospects id prefer that they grab someone with control, preferably through 2028. That would be a smart win-win trade. I do love the idea of Zebby hitting the pen, I think he could really succeed there. Theres also already a precedent sent where struggling starters hit the pen for a few years and then eventually transition back. Im also not against him sticking it out as a starter the rest of the year if we stand pat I'll trust the process on what they do with Prielipp, whether they ride him out this year as a SP or throw him in the bullpen, im just happy to see him play.

    I do like the idea of keeping him as a starter/opener. Have him hit the mound as a opener and only go 1-2 innings depending on the pitch count. Im not sure if pairing him with a fellow lefty like Rojas would help, maybe Zebby/Parades would work better. That way he can stay on a consistent routine like he was starting. I think that would benefit him more in the long run. Im also not against him being used as a bullpen weapon, I just wonder if the inconsistency would hurt his game.

    I couldnt disagree more on your Royce take. For the first time in years hes starting to show good spirit and confidence and now we want to drop him down into a bench role? Hes reached base in almost every game since he's came back, we've been wanting a long term first basement for years and he's shown more promise than anyone since he returned. Id rather take the risk and ride him out this year and see what he truly is. I believe theres still more to him than what we've seen so far.

    Man its so awesome to see Royce doing well, I'll always cheer for him! Correct me if im wrong, but he's reached base in 29/31 games since he came back.

    The Red Sox are rumored to be looking for a catcher, if they like Jeffers enough to extend him long term I could see a Gray / Jeffers trade happening. Gray might be a little expensive for the twins liking. I like Trevor Rogers with the Orioles. He was elite late last year coming back from injury. Looked really good to start the year but fell off hard for a bit and has looked better as of late. He did hit the IL with an illness during his rough stretch that may have caused those struggles. He'd be cheaper salary and prospect wise as he is also a rental. If the Twins plan on shopping Joe Ryan this summer instead of the deadline, Rogers could be a nice extension canidate.

    I would as well and could get behind that plan. But we'll have to pony up during the time where RP are most expensive. That means trading away our top prospects for hopefully controllable RPers. Seems counter-intuitive to last year but Falvey can eat rocks for all i care.

    Gomez - Morris - Sands (When hes back) is the start of a decent pen. Add in some upside with Go - Nance - Rogers (As a specialist) and maybe Rojas if he adjusts a little better Hopefully we can get a mid rotation starter at the deadline and bump Prielipp to the BP when he gets close to his innings limit. Add another good controllable reliever if we're >500. Then the bottom of the pen can be used trying out our youngish AAA arms and see if we can find another Morris

    This is the right move, let Orze reset a bit and get some confidence back. He has a 5.66 ERA - 4.08 xERA - 3.35 FIP - 4.74 xFIP so he's probably due some positive regression. Hopefully he works on his command and come back sharper.
