    This is the right move, let Orze reset a bit and get some confidence back. He has a 5.66 ERA - 4.08 xERA - 3.35 FIP - 4.74 xFIP so he's probably due some positive regression. Hopefully he works on his command and come back sharper.

    I was being a little dramatic about it destroying the franchise so thats on me. I can agree with you that trades like this can backfire especially for an older pitcher with no name recognition and mid production. But they have to do something with this bullpen and relief pitchers are expensive mid season so its a worthy gamble. FWIW he's supposed to have a really good curveball and slider, but his Sinker has fallen off hard this year so maybe the Twins see something they can tinker with.

    Tbf to Nance about being used as a low leverage reliever, the Blue Jays do have a very good bullpen Going through Varland, Hoffman, Rogers, Fluharty, and Miles is a tough ask. Im not worried about an 8th round pick, we have to trade something of value and the Blue Jays didnt want cash considerations. This is pretty similar to the Sergio Romo trade we made a few years ago. Sent 22 year old Lewin Diaz who was hitting .300 with 19 homers at the time and i believe hes out of the league now. Romo pitched pretty good down the stretch for us that year and was a solid trade

    I have to disagree. Their biggest issue is that they wont spend money to make this team better. Cheapness can be a smart move when you operate as a small market team but you need to make some questionable trades from time to time. But I dont see how trading an 8th round pick from last year is going to destroy this franchise. Sure maybe theres a 10% chance he becomes a utility guy or plays a couple years in the majors

    Not a horrible trade if we're trying to be competitive this year. He's given up atleast 1 run in 9 out of 32 apperances this year, just 1-2 runs in all besides a 4 run dud vs the Dodgers. As is he is probably a slightly above average reliever right now and should atleast help our bullpen out.

    Oh they absolutely do. Jhoan Duran walked 3 guys in 1 inning in May. Andrew Morris walked 3 in 0.2 innings earlier this year. Varland and Miller have each had a couple games of walking 2 guys in 1 inning (Averages out to 4 in 2 innings)

    I like the Rays as a trade partner this year. Let them and the Yanks get in a bit of a trading war for Jeffers, but let the Rays win (Boo Yanks). They need a catcher and an OFer, so we could look to include Larnach to sweeten the deal. Rays have a couple pitchers close to the show. Brody Hopkins has talent but has 64 walks in 67 innings. <.200 BAA, doesnt give up much homers and is a elite SO guy. Forret is a little lower on the rankings but is similar to Hopkins but without the walk issues. Either could be a good option to get their feet wet in the majors either as a BP arm or the 5th starter when Prielipp needs to cut down the innings. Im also slightly in favor of trading Emma as well, his injury history is concerning as a Twins fan and if another team ask for him then id like to get a solid pitcher with atleast 1.5-2.5 years of control.

    Sox have a very young and inexperienced roster which can cause alot of volatility at any moment. Davis Martin and Miguel Vargas we're two of the best players in baseball for a decent chunk of the early season and have since cooled off. Scary offense but that pitching staff is w/e Twins im biased but if they did a tricky buy/sell at the deadline and got back a good rental relief arm, a mid tier controllable SP and maybe a youngish struggling starter (convert to pen). Revamp the bullpen and call up some of the young guns and theres a chance. Would have to keep Joe Ryan though. Tigers yeah I wouldnt count them out. Their bullpen is Twins level but they got a few names who could pull it together. Depends on if they sell Skubal or not (Maybe we want them to hold?) Guardians same as Tigers as far as not counting them out. Maybe their dark magic wears off or they buy a bat or two at the deadline and get an average offense with Jose back and they'd be tough to beat out. At the end of the day anyone can take this division if they want it bad enough (besides the Royals)

    **Second worst division It is nice to try to find some positives after years of anguish and be hopeful for what is being built for 27-28. Complaining solves nothing and spreads like wild fire

    Larnach is hitting .264 with a .391 OBP, thats pretty picky to complain about

    He has had his flaws and mistakes, just like every GM in sports history. But I liked what he did prior to the 2025 season. I thought he assembled a pretty respectable pitching staff during his time. But I believe he deserves a little leeway with how the payroll was handled by ownership. Ownership slashing payroll after that playoff win put him in an incredibly difficult spot after paying Correa and Pablo.

    I was a big Favlvey supporter, but him getting rid of King Varland was a mistake. Maybe the return will be good in the long run but you need a guy like him in your bullpen to shut things down. At some point we just need to throw Festa, Matthews, Rojas, Klein, SWR/Prielipp (Maybe) into the bullpen and just ride it out. I like Sands and Orze, Morris could be solid in a 1-2 inning role, but we need real bodies in there and maybe we could get something cooking late in the year and have some real fun next season.

    In his defense he is currently one of the unluckiest hitters in the MLB right now with a BABIP of .234, while his average and most of the league is around. 290-310. Which also explains his gap of .211 BA and an expected BA of .255. Its not great but hes due positive regression. Hes a solid backup catcher/first basement

    Those first two innings were nuts! This is a fun team to watch right now and should get more exciting as Prielipp, Festa, Matthews, Culpepper, Emma and possibly GG/Jenkins join the big squad.

    +1 on the Royals and +4.5 on the Blood Sox. Just gotta make it to the playoffs and see what happens. I always like to believe that its a 50/50 shot to win those whether you're the top playoff team or the bottom. This team can be streaky but it needs some playoff experience (and $$) for the future.

    Tough loss. Ice cold offense. Burnt bullpen. But man are we spoiled with a healthy starting staff next year. Lopez, Ober, Ryan, SWR, Festa, Matthews and possibly Morris. Let Varland and Paddack do damage in the bullpen with Jax, Duran, Sands, and Alcala(?). Hope for a healthy return of Topa/Stewart and see what Winder has in him the rest of the year. Just need that coveted lefty. Also saying this, praying that ownership doesn't slash payroll to Pirate's standards.

    No one but the front office knows what feelings they have towards AK right now. I can see a scenario where they are writting him off this year, keeping that option year open, and giving him one last shot next season. Thats only if they are not truly bugged out by his hidden injury and he wants to be here. AK has played 4 big league seasons under 90 games while a decent junk of those have been playing through injuries. He's talented and a gamer. There's still a chance he can provide value to a playoff caliber team. Age 26 - .248 BA / .309 OBP / .721 OPS

    It has been proven in spades? Thats just based on your opinion which is leaving meat on the bone. Assuming you're just referring to the Twins not being better in 2024. Subtracting Polanco for a youth movement of Julien, Lee, Martin, and giving more chances to Castro has helped quite a bit. The money saved from his contract and an extra roster spot offensively is what brought in Santana which has been a really good investment given his defense, offense and experience.

    Almost every prospect struggles. Im not saying they are locked in MLB caliber players. Just that they have potential to be, more so Gonzalez though.

    We saved cap space to sign Santana, 2 more years of Topa, and 2 young prospects with potential (more so for Gonzalez, but Bowen may be a solid RP)

    They have 2 two more years of control after this season.

    Ryan's injury sucks eggs but now is the time to have faith in the pitching pipeline. Time to see what we really have in SWR, Festa, Varland, and Zebby come late September/October. Clinching the division or winning a playoff series would be a huge boost for next season.
