Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Patience, Grasshoppers! I seriously don't like anything about Stauffer that I've seen since he's joined the Twins, but he is a guy with a decent track record and his work to this point is too small a sample. I don't doubt that he will continue to be bad, but he's only worked 10 innings. Give him another 10 and see where he's at. When was he good as a reliever? Because looking at his stats, I don't see it.

But for the love of God, don't let your eyes wander and gaze at the numbers above, below or especially to the the right of that 2010 ERA.

His k/9 rates the last two years are certainly respectable. I never saw him pitch before, but this is what baffles me with him. 8.27 -> 9.37 -> 1.80.
old nurse Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I just found five innings he pitched at Rochester earlier this month: 6 hits, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, 3 runs. So now we're only down to 5 we have to give him. Todays 2.1 IP did not help with 5 hits, a walk, 2 runs and a lucky break that Reyes was trying to get an ill advised double.
