jorgenswest Verified Member Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Just finished following the Red Wing game. Milone somehow outdid his previous performance with a shut out today. 9-6-0-0-0-13 13 Strike outs and 0 walks. The catcher framing those pitches and calling the game - Josmil Pinto. He also added the offense with a home run. Twins have an opening for a bat as they go to Chicago later this week. Pelfrey and Nolasco has been shaky. The Twins might want to make a couple of plane reservations.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Pelfrey had a couple nice games, but has fallen back. He should be considered strictly an emergency fill-in, again.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I agree on Pinto, buy the ticket. Milone, on the other hand, should stay put. Maybe Meyer can learn a little something on controlling his pitches from him.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I know AAA isn't the majors, but Milone has been more than impressive. 88 mph fastballs by themselves don't get out Single A hitters. His command must be spot on. It is amazing to see the whiffs. I think that Pinto should be in the majors, whether as the second of two catchers or three catchers.

It's refreshing to see a guy go down in a close call, without pouting or sulking, and then dominating and kicking down doors.

Pelfrey handled his "demotion" to the pen like a jack-ass. You reward players like Milone. You don't punish them, or hold them back for selfish reasons. I'm not so sure asking him to mentor Meyer so that he could pass Milone as well would go over so well. Milone is a big leaguer, and needs to be pitching for a major league club. We need to promote him or trade him.
