Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Hey Seth... I nearly went apoplectic when I saw TREVOR HILDENBERGER was a second round pick last year! After I regained consciousness, I realized you probably meant twenty second round! Thanks for all your hard work keeping us informed! As of sometime last night, my laptop suddenly wouldn't let me type a key twice in a row. In other words, I probably types 22nd and all that came out was 2nd. Imagine how frustrating that is! There are a lot of words that have consecutive letters (like letters). That includes the delete button, so I have to get creative if I type something wrong. I'm thinking a restart would be good. highlander 1
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Also, both Burdi and Reed are starting to chill out as well. They might be dominant the rest of the season now. They've both been better of late, which is good to see. I think both will be fine, but we need to be more patient... obviously. Hrbowski 1
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Vavra has had some succes, Kuresa not as much, so far. All things being equal, you typically see the early promotions coming from the group of guys who returned to the MWL to start the year after spending a fair amount of time here the prior season. Thus, my sense that Murphy and Larson would head the list of possible promotions among position players. They were both off to slow starts, though, so they'll need more than a couple weeks of hot hitting to really earn promotions. Of course, injuries at any level create opportunities borne of need, rather than performance, so you never know. Vavra has just been so consistent this season. His average hasn't really been below about .280 all year and it's been up to about .340, with good approach at the plate and some doubles/homers. Larson and Murphy have been good for a week. I think they need another month, which puts us to that mid-June timeline when we start seeing some changes.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Rosario maybe doesn't have the overall solid slash line but, I agree, he's Mr. Clutch in that he gets hits at key times. Though 4 games... a little perspective on Rosario is good at this point. Tcrose3636 1
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) Just like last year, he had no control right out of the gate. It's getting fixed. I don't think either one is going to be with the Twins anytime soon, though, no.21 strikes, 19 balls, 2 doubles and a walk- 40 pitches in two innings of work on Sunday, at the tail end of mopping up a 16-3 blowout. I think there's a good chance the fix is going to take a little while longer. Edited May 12, 2015 by jokin
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Perhaps related to Buxton and the Twins: the Astros promoted Carlos Correa to AAA today. Good billboard material for Buxton.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Good billboard material for Buxton.I guess Buxton might still have some of his bonus money available to pay for a billboard ad, if he wants. Otto von Ballpark 1
dxpavelka Verified Member Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I would hope that Correia's status in Houston would have no bearing on Buxton's here. That would just be foolhardy. Mike Sixel 1
jimmer Verified Member Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I look forward to seeing Correa in the majors. Mike Sixel 1
