gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 So the starting five out of ST will be Hughes, Santana, Nolasco, Gibson and Milone with Pelfrey, May and Meyer the next three. Last year we went with Nolasco, Correa, Hughes, Pelfrey and Gibson with Johnson, Deduno and Pino the first call ups. 2013 - Worley, Correa, Pelfrey, Hendriks, Hernandez and Diamond, Deduno and Walters the first call ups. 2012 - Pavano, Liriano, Swarzak, Blackburn, Marquis (athough Hendriks made the first start) with Hendriks, Diamond and Walters the first call ups. I like our depth a bit more this year for sure. The starting 5 isn't horrible although Nolasco still scares me. But I trust Hughes and Gibson a lot more than I did a year ago at this time and I like Milone more than Pelfrey.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I agree that this year's version has the potential to outperform last year's group, just not sure by how much. I would love it if Hughes can match 2014, but expect some regression albeit small. Nolasco has to outperform last year or he should be in the bullpen. I think we can expect Gibson to show a little more consistency and maybe a higher K/9. Santana should be a nice improvement over Correia. I'm fine with Millone hut he should not block May or Meyer when they are deemed ready. I think the improvement gets us to 76-82 wins.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Bit disappointed that May didn't make it. It isn't as though Milone outperformed him, and May has much more upside.
jimmer Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I nodded off by the time I got to the 5th guy. :-)
twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Wish it were May in 5 spot.
Paul Pleiss Verified Member Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 This is a better rotation than we saw in 2014, which was better than 2013, which was better than 2012. That's not saying a lot. This rotation will likely still be amongst the worst in the AL. The Twins are improved going into 2015, but so is almost everyone else.
