Look's like the Twins are talking to him. How do you feel about this, if we were to sign him? It would help the bullpen yes, but I would rather see a young guy take a roster spot. Here is the link. Leave your thoughts below.

Something like that may work out for the Twins.  Last year Soriano progressively got worse as the year went on. Started off really well and lost it somewhere towards the end.  So if he came in and helped the Twins for 3 months and then the Twins trade him to a contender at or before the deadline, that gives some of the younger guys a little bit of seasoning down in AAA or AA and then come up for the last 2 months or so?  It may give the Twins the best chance at winning during the beginning of the season whereas one of the younger guys will probably give them the best chance of winning towards the end of the season.

Are you sure that the talks are not about figuring out how the heck he gave up a Home Run to Ben Revere last season?

Twins dropped Lester Oliveros from the 40-man. So it looks like someone is making the team, be it Boyer or Shane Robinson for sure.

How long would it take Soriano to get ready, I wonder?

I would bet he has been working out with someone. Who, I don't know. But if we were to sign him I would place my money he would make the major league squad.

He has been working at the "Boras FL Center".  And this is a real quotation...

I live in DC, and watching Nationals fans fall to pieces every time Soriano (predictably) blew a save was pretty hilarious. I'll gladly pass on his brand of consistent inconsistency, thank you.

I think that it would be something similar to Jose Valverde and the Tigers in 2013; I believe he was up by the end of April.

To me, it looks like a Boras-encouraged, if not Boras-planted story, presumably to gin up "last week of Spring Training angst"- the timing with Oliveros clearing waivers within a couple hours of this announcement is rather convenient.  It makes me wonder if this story has surfaced other times that some team has cleared a roster space.

I would be stunned were the Twins to break all precedent and go this route.  Soriano made $11M last year, the Nats declined a $14M option for this year. I would think that Boras is looking for a multi-year deal,  probably starting negotiation at what?... At least 2/$16? (Which probably goes a long way in  explaining why Soriano is still unsigned).
