Hunter will hit more homers than Mauer (I hope - Mauer's not going to hit very many)

Mauer should have a higher OBP, BA, more doubles...

I think SLG could be close, again because I think Torii will hit 15-20 HRs again this season, it's a question of how much Torii will regress in avg and obp now that he's another year older.

I think Mauer will bounce back as well.  I think we'll see him end up closer to his career numbers this year.  I think the concussion was still effecting him in the beginning of the year.

There was a stretch there right before the oblique injury where we saw the old Mauer show up again.  I'm betting that we see that version of Mauer for most of the season this year.

That said, I'm betting Mauer goes on the DL at least once this year as well.

It's sad when we start comparing Mauer to a player who is 40, let's hope Mauer can outperform him.  Kind of sad he didn't do it last year.

So don't. It isn't really a good comparison, it's just a snarky poll. Joe was far better last year than Torii in many measures. And it was a down year for Joe.

Meh.  Hunter was better by offensive numbers like oWAR, wRC, wOBA, 2b, HR, slg, avg, OPS+, OPS etc.  (He also didn't strike out as much).  Defensive metrics (which has been discussed in a lot of different threads) are the things that put Mauer over Hunter.

No, he really wasn't. Other than defense, but sure what measures you're using.... and Joe want even a stand out there.

I guess I'm going with Hunter.  Joe may have a bounce back year, but I think TF is really going to lend itself to inflate Hunter's numbers.

Also, since WAR is cumulative, Hunter's strong track record of games played gives him a leg up against Mauer's less than postive recent track record of staying on the field.
