Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Mariners may have just signed Nelson Cruz - 4 years, $58 Million or so.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Ya, really a two to three year deal in terms of any effectiveness probably.......but spreading out the money.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 15M for Cruz seems like a bargain relative to some other moves being made.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 15M next season is fine. 4 yrs of it is awful. Relative to giving Cuddyer 10M and giving up a first round pick? Or "do nothing well" Billy Butler 30M? At least Cruz does one thing well.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Braves sign Nick Markakis for too many years and too much money to do nothing of notable value. #HotBravesTwitterTake JA Happ traded for Michael Saunders. The combination of the two meaning Justin Upton to Seattle?

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2015-free-agent-predictions/ Fans are sticker shocked this winter, again. What a surprise.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 I bet Seattle would like that to be the case... If the return was Walker, I believe Atlanta and its fans would like that as well.

Yankees get Didi Gregorius from AZTigers get SP Greene from NYYDiamondbacks get Robbie Ray and minor league Inf from DET. Anyone else think that AZ could have gotten more from someone else?
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Yankees also add Andrew Miller - 4 years, $36 MM
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 To me, at first blush, it looks like the Yankees got the short end of the deal.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Detroit did well. Clearly the Yankees want defense and value it more than a number 5 pitcher. Given their ability to buy pitching, it probably makes sense for them. The Tigers don't give up much short or medium term, and get a number 5 starter. ....you can't go back in time and fix the Foster trade, so I like it for them. AZ is playing for the future, I guess.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Looks like J Rollins to the Dodgers for a couple minor league arms, per MLBTR.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Looks like J Rollins to the Dodgers for a couple minor league arms, per MLBTR. And Dee Gordon to the Marlins for Andrew Heaney (with other pieces on both sides)

SwainZag Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Man the Dodgers are wheelin' and dealin' today. They acquire 2B Howie Kendrick from the Angels for SP Heaney who they got in the deal from the Marlins earlier. Also close to deal with SP Brandon McCarthy on a 4 year, $48 million dollar deal. Who thought he would get that much?

Who thought he would get that much? With his health history, the years are ridiculous. I wouldn't do Heaney for Kendrick straight up, let alone add in Rutledge, but I guess they were just excited to solve their catcher issues with Grandal and get Kemp off the team.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 SP Alfredo Simon to the Tigers. Reds get Tigers 1st round pick in 2013 SP Jonathon Crawford and 22 year old SS Eugenio Suarez.

Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 The Cardinals have picked up their new DH, Mark Reynolds! Oh, wait. I guess they'll use him as a bench bat and 1B...
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Speaking of DH's - Kendrys Morales got a 2 year deal from Kansas City...
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Speaking of DH's - Kendrys Morales got a 2 year deal from Kansas City... With a 3rd year option. If we weren't in such a Santana frenzy we'd probably be talking about how crazy it is for a team to sign a full time DH with a .612 OPS to a 2 year $17 million deal. He's lucky he didn't get a Kubelesque minor league offer.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So, The Orioles were unable/unwiling to retain Markakis, Nelson Cruz, and Delmon - and they missed out on Melky Cabrera and Torii Hunter. They have to be in the market to sign Alex Rios and/or Colby Rasmus now, right?
