Wolfson: Molitor to have second interview

KSTP''s (and 1500espn's) Darren Wolfson first reported that Paul Molitor will have a second interview with Terry Ryan Tuesday.

That Pohlad won't be there likely indicates that an offer would not be made, though we can't know that for certain.

 

He also tweeted that Joe McEwing (learned last week), Sandy Alomar, Jr., and Demarlo Hale are also out of contention at this point.

Can't say that I am terribly surprised.  I have no problem with them hiring Molitor, if that is who they feel is the best candidate.  As much as some people are going to think this decision was made long ago, I think Ryan is taking the search seriously.  His job should depend on making the right hire and the Twins showing significant progress in 2015.

From what was written, could the Twins be ruling Molly out and asking him if he wants to continue on the staff? Not sure if I really believe that, but I don't see why they would have a second interview at all.

I wonder if this is really a second interview, or just a meeting with Molitor.  A courtesy meeting to let him know he's out, or a press conference to follow.  I'll go with a press conference coming shortly.

When already employed by the organization?  I think usual patterns go out the window.
