Prolly the last MLB player that I can say I had as a student in high school. Nice kid, nice family, and, at one time, was a hell of a good pitcher. You go Pat!

I used to work at an airport in the midwest...it was a smaller airport. we were having a slow day and I was talking to somebody about this kid the Twins had in AAA. He was striking out everybody. I couldnt wait to watch him pitch for the twins in the bigs. His name was Pat Neshek. One of the passengers flying out that day was watching and listening. He asked if i knew Pat or was friends with him. I said no, i didnt know him but I had noticed his stat lines in AA and AAA. And then just to be a smart alec i asked the guy if he knew Pat. The guy smiled. "He is my son in law. Do you want an autographed picture? I admitted that I did and he gave me an 8x10. I still have it. Its an awesome pic side angle from his throwing side showing the whip action Pat gets when he throws. His hand is actually about 120 degrees back of his elbow.

He is pitching as well as he has ever pitched in his career, and it's great to see.

Pat went out of his way to sign a ball for my nephew at one point and then took the ball to the pen for all the guys to sign. Nothing I've seen of him outside of that did anything but reinforce that's the kind of guy he is: down to earth and just a damn good guy.

 

So happy he's had continued success.
