  1. I have a question about the new rule. Can a guy be put in, get the third out in an inning then start the next inning and only face one batter? I can't imagine that situation will come up that often but what happens? Does he only have to face two batters because he ended an inning even though the end of the inning isn't when he was pulled?
  2. Does this mean we can talk about Maeda in next years "Ex-Twins in 2021" forum or not?
  3. Tell BOS to go pound sand. What's to stop teams from doing this every trade? Next time the Twins make a deal with BOS (I hope it never happens) the FO should make the handshake deal, wait two days then ask for more...everytime. It just seems like such bush league garage to me. Does anyone know if three team deals like this are actually three team deals or is it two independent deals? Lots of comments about how we traded Graterol to LA, not BOS so who cares what BOS wants. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw BOS hesitating but I get the feeling that's not really how it works.
  4. I think I remember reading last year that Cruz would ask Sano two questions after each at bat. What was your plan and how much fun was it? Having a plan is key and I believe Cruz really impacted Sano's approach. Not so much with specific mechanics or even what the plan is (although I suspect he helped with the planning as well) but just going up there as a professional hitter, with a well thought out plan. The second part is important as well. Keep it light and loose. We all know Sano likes to hit and when he gets a hold of one it sure looks like fun to me.
  5. Toss some darts and go with it. Easiest job in MLB; filling out this lineup. Just go with whatever feels right at the time. Have fun Rocco!
  6. Can you guys moderate the rest of the internet?
  7. It sure felt like Rocco threw in the towel when he put Gibson in. I immediately thought he had given up on the game and was just trying to eat innings. Has he been watching Gibson lately? Being down three runs in game 1 of a 5 game series with this lineup, I'm not sure I get it. Didn't we have another minor league pitcher on our playoff roster that could have given up those runs?
  8. Bench him? I think that ship has sailed. Who is surprised by this? If you want to correct the lack of hustle, the bonehead plays, the showboating you're about 4-5 years too late. I've known (and I suspect most of us have) this is who Eddie is for a while now. I don't particularly like it, but I'm not shocked. Bench him in 2015 if you don't like it, but up 4 with 10 to play after he's been in the league dogging it occasionally for 4 years now, how does that help?
  9. My biggest concerns for flying the coop are Rowson, as the article mentioned and Wes Johnson. I know Johnson is a first year, straight from the college ranks coach, but he seems like a gem to me. Maybe the SSS will protect him a bit, but I could see lots of FOs being interested in him.
  10. They had Cave shifted...end of story. Swing away. You can't have it both ways.
  11. I think fewer innings behind the plate is helping both catchers immensely. How much of Garver's bananas season can be attributed to that? I can't imagine that he would keep up at this rate if catching 70-75% of the games, closer to a traditional starter/back model. Catching is hard. Turns out 2 catchers OPSing over .800 is a pretty nice luxury.
  12. I think I noticed Smeltzer tipping pitches last night with men on. Didn't seem to matter at all as he pitched brilliantly. He kind of bounces his right foot before he gets set. Granted, I couldn't count every time because of the broadcast, but I got fastball/curveball right every time (maybe 10 pitches). 8 bounces for a curve, 9 for the cheese. I hope this was just coincidence and not a trend. Maybe it's a good sign...tipping pitches and they still can't hit it. Something to watch for his next outing. Let me know if anyone else sees it.
  13. Sorry to pile on about the Sano chemistry question, but how is it we're asking about Sano fouling up the chemistry in a lineup that's crushing it and at the same time clamoring for Kimbrel to join the BP. If any personality is gonna blow up team chemistry, my money would be on Kimbrel, not Sano.
  14. Starting pitching has been a nice little surprise this year. I'm a little worried that all this new found velo could lead to a few elbows blowing up. Maybe it's years of MN fandom, but I just don't see this uptick in sauce being free. Maybe Wes is some sort of wizard, but throwing the ball faster has got to be harder on your arm, right? I'm going to attempt to put that out of my mind and enjoy it while it lasts. Sure was fun to watch Perez dominate HOU.
  15. Can someone quote the rule book for me as to the top and bottom of the zone? I seem to remember something about the "letters" and the "hollow below the knee" as to the upper and lower bounds. I'm not sure if this is still how the rule book reads, but those definitions seem vague. I think the upper limit was changed to be more specific, it's the "hollow below the knee" I take umbrage with. I know everyone's knee hollow is not the same height off the ground, but are all hollows the same width? Is it the top or the bottom of the hollow?...what the hell is the hollow anyway? I'm not sure I've thought this all the way through but if there is some subjectivity to the bottom of the zone don't we have an issue setting the electronic strike zone? Does the human ump set the upper and lower bounds of "Robo-ump's" strike zone for each batter? The official scorer? Some new MLB strike zone czar? Maybe it's just a simple rule change to clarify the bounds of the strike zone, but I feel like that's where we should start. You know, actually figuring out where the strike zone is. Am I alone on this? Feels like I might be.
  16. Is anyone else bugged by these Cleveland knock off unis we're wearing this year?
  17. Remember when you're trying to come up with the best player on on all 30 teams? When you get stuck at 29, remember the answer to KC is: N/A...
  18. There have been lots of debates about whether La Makina is an ace or not....He's an ace. I'll stand by that until he proves me wrong. Buxton looked good on that double. Nice quiet swing, squared it up and sure enough that ball left home plate 21lbs faster than last year. I am completely refreshed, baseball is back and Rocco seemed to have no hesitation about a 4 out save. Not sure Molly would have done that. Sure is fun beating teams in the AL Central, here's to seeing more of it.
  19. While I think there is some truth to this, I can't help but picture that highlight from last year of Kepler catching a lace with his cleats and falling flat on his face out in right. Poise, grace and pure athleticism...
  20. I like the increased velocity that Johnson seems to be able to squeeze out of guys. It's a refreshing after enduring the "pitch to contact" philosophy for so long. Power pitching is fun to watch. Is anyone concerned that upping the velocity across the board with these guys is going to lead to more injuries? Seems too good to be true; just whisper sweet nothings into pitchers ears and they throw harder with no ill effect? Call me excited, but skeptical.
  21. Can Schoop play SS at all? I like this signing, but I like it a whole bunch more if it happens a couple months ago. Seems like this would have been a good place to start this off season (Granted, maybe Marwin wouldn't have taken this deal earlier). If he signs first do we rethink the Schoop or Cron signings?
  22. I agree with the cream and pinstripes, but that gold trim is awful. The '19 home alternates might be one of the ugliest unis I've seen in a while. Thanks for putting this out there, always fun to look back at the old unis.
  23. Hopefully, he's borrowing those 21lbs from Sano. With an agreement he gives them back in about 10 years.
