The trend in baseball is away from a full time DH. Gives you more flexibility. I like this strategy, unless of course you can get the bat Cruz brought everyday (those are hard to come by). Miranda came up with 3rd base as his most prominent position. He has stated he likes 2nd base the most, but imo he doesn't have the chops for that position. I'd like to see him eventually settle in at third. I think I read where Buxton is on pace for 130 games this year. If that's the case, keep doing whatever your doing.

I just can't picture Andy McPhail with a shovel or hammer in hand. Now a nicely pressed white shirt and cappuccino? Picture perfect.

Minnesota’s Second Coming of Rod Carew
wabene replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Rog said "The one ex-Twin he reminds me a lot of is Astudillo as he brings a lot of the same energy as the Turtle. That comparison ends however, when he steps into the batter's box." Edit: nevermind- 45 replies

Gordon has no options. They won't lose him now. Maybe some like Speer could bump him in the future.

Archer has some great energy, but I have to wonder if he is wasting some on the mound. In boxing you can plainly see when one fighter is bouncing around and the other calmer, the calm fighter has the clear stamina edge as the fight progresses. Other things being relatively equal, of course.

They aren't going to be using him on consecutive days. They also aren't going to be using him in the ninth when the tough matchups are in a different inning. This is how it is going to be, full stop.

Rocco this and Rocco that. Conveniently Those That Whine complained about that lineup in game two, but we're noticeably silent about Buxton playing 2 GAMES IN ONE DAY. Hilarious.

Thank you. I guess people have to vent. Tom F said it well, Rocco manages to the 162 game schedule, sometimes the decisions that produces are hard for those that live and die with every game to take.

Royce Lewis Suffers A Bone Bruise In His Knee
wabene replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This is what I was thinking, you just said it better. When you watch the video you can see his knee shudder at impact. Just like blocking kicks in MMA, you get your foot off the ground so the impact gets dispersed. If he was in the air with his right foot off the ground, the impact wouldn't have been compounded by the ground. -
I'll take the smooth vocal stylings of the Hawk any day. At one point last night when he piped up I realized we had had some delicious moments of silence. Less is MORE. JM seems like a nice guy but man, edit, edit, edit. Every game I say to the TV, alright ALRIGHT, I get it man.

Tom Kelly was never a good player, had a personality that is best described as good behind the scenes and an overall record 202 games under .500 yet he is well liked by the fan base. I guess that's what 2 WS championships will do for ya. Ron Gardenhire was an irascible, cheap beer drinking scrub utility infielder from Oklahoma with a career record 80 games over .500. His teams made the playoffs many times, but had no success there. He was also well liked by the fan base. Rocco Baldelli is a totally different animal. A top prospect from the east coast, the start to his major league career showed much promise. The guy could really play, but a rare condition led to many injuries, ending his career prematurely. He stayed in baseball learning ins and outs at one of the more forward thinking organizations in baseball. He is a more sophisticated type, articulate and married to an artist. In 3 short years he has 2 division titles and is already 41 games over .500 in spite of a down year last year. The guy is not universally liked by the fan base however. Even after wins people will go out of their way to say how the Twins won in spite of him. I guess we prefer everyman types, over achievers who drink cheap beer and kick dirt at umpires.

Does 100 Games of Buxton Work?
wabene replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The part you are missing is they are not keeping him out to avoid injury, they are managing an existing injury.- 23 replies

The Alex Kirilloff Situation Is a Colossal Bummer

Buxton, Correa, Lewis and Polanco. Polo just plays everyday and produces. Quiet guy, he gets forgotten.

The current hitting coach, Popkins, has Kepler finally going the other way and has Larnach back to his center left power stroke. He has the club swinging a 113 OPS+ this season whereas James Rowson as the bench coach and offensive coordinator for the Marlins has them at OPS+ of 99 this year, 80 last year and 89 the year before. -
Week in Review: Battling Through Attrition
wabene replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Garlic mashing leftys is a thing, but is it enough of a gap over Celestino's bat to make up for the wide gulf in defensive prowess? Defense has been a huge part of the success this season. Do they even win yesterday without Gio's plays? I do not enjoy watching Garlic in the field.- 13 replies

224–183 He is a unique type character in the sports world personality wise and I appreciate individuals. He has an interesting backstory as a player, a little tragic and at one time was quite the player. I'm sure this gives him the gravitas and perspective players can relate to. He comes from a good organization. Pisano. I like the new structure of the Twins front office and Rocco fits in well with it. I don't like to complain all the time. It's not all roses Eprav, his taste in music. Phish? C'mon man.
