  1. If Solano plays up to recent career norms it would be a good time to rest the second baseman Gordon/Polanco (his weaker side) or the first baseman Kirilloff/Gallo. Or since Gallo has pretty flat splits you could have him leave 1st base to Donny Barrels and have Gallo take over for Kep in right.
  2. Ok let's clear this up. Originally I posted my opinion on your quoted post, but then decided not to get involved, it's not my job, but since you can't delete posts I left the expressionless emoji there. After you responded with the emoji, I made a flippant response, which I regret. Now I'll just give it to you straight, I didn't like you calling Rocco Baldelli, Baldi. I get it if you don't like his management style, or perhaps you just like to complain about management, doesn't matter to me. Just give the man basic respect. I believe that would fall under the rules of this site anyway.
  3. It's pretty cynical to say they were BSing. Perhaps they thought they could ramp him up as he was further removed from his worst injury days. The plan failed, obviously, but I don't know what evidence there is they were deceiving us. In hindsight I'm sure they'd have gone after a similar, ageing and injured starter, Johnny Cueto instead if possible.
  4. Ober said his wife was good at grounding him. Maybe she told him that Sands wasn't a starter, so him being upset about Sands making the roster over him was like him being upset about Carlos Correa making the roster over him. Maybe she told him that he may have pitched better than Mahle and Maeda this spring, but they don't have options and they do have extensive track records of being reliable and durable starting pitchers, which he has not yet proven. In that article Bailey talked about being the underdog his whole life and having to scratch for what he gets. He knows what to do. Work.
  5. Looking back at Archer's numbers now it may be easy to forget what it was like to watch him. He would reach a point where he just could not find the plate. I'd argue the reason those numbers look as good as they do is because they got all there was to get out of him. Bundy too.
  6. I doubt Ober is wasting any energy on thoughts like that. He knows as well as you or I about him being the only starter in the top 6 with an option. The only starter with zero track record for durability. He knows if he performs this year and holds up, he will have the inside track on a rotation spot next year. The young man will keep his head down and work. His opportunities are just ahead of him.
  7. People complaining about Sands making the roster over Ober are not considering that they don't play the same position. As mentioned Sands is on the 94 shuttle while Ober is in a controlled environment, incubating.
  8. Maeda looked like he took a step forward in his last start
  9. Pablo is the most ramped up due to the WBC. Sonny sure looked sharp today and when he is on he is fun to watch. I don't watch other teams much but does anybody else do what he does locating that two seamer? Magic. Leftys just watch it go by, lol. Hopefully Sonny accepts the home opener gracefully as he is the most accomplished starter on the team. Pablo will be here next year and the guy is super smart and impressive not to mention young. This staff could be a ton of fun, although clubbing on South Beach with Ricky in his Lambo wouldn't be too bad either, lol.
  10. Pretty much as expected. Ober still needs to stretch out at this point and it is wise to slow that process down considering he pitched only 56 innings last year. That is if you have any hope of him pitching late in the year. I don't think the Twins are interested in four inning starts this year thankfully. So if you consider that I'm not sure how Bailey could end up still pitching in September, unless he has a substantial IL stint. Castro is the surprise, here's hoping he's not up long and AK and Polo come back.
  11. He is a lefty, but he's got reverse splits, correct? That makes him very useful, especially when the opposing manager sends a bunch of rightys out to face him, lol
  12. I think those complaining about high payrolls and high ticket prices have a point. Money in sports is out of hand overall. $30 plus for a beer and a sandwich? A family of 4 can sit in middling seats and easily drop over $400 for a few hours of entertainment. Licensing fees, huge TV contacts, corporate suites, skyrocketing payrolls and salary caps, year round personal nutritionists and hyperbolic chambers. The money in sports today is totally crazy and out of hand. The owners, the players, the super agents, it has changed drastically over time and is undeniably more expensive for the average fan. Vast numbers of the populous are priced out of attending games live. I live in Duluth and don't get to many games. When we do go, we splurge and act like gluttonous fools, lol. If we lived in town we would go to many more games and part of that would be budgeting.
  13. 92-70 Pablo Lopez steps forward to lead a strong rotation.
  14. I will be tuning in to any start started by pitchers 1 thru 8 or so on this depth chart. Add in the pitch clock and now we're talking. Fast paced quality pitching, sign me up!
  15. It has to be as clear to Adam as it is to me that Carolina is not winning anything in the two years that he has guaranteed. That is my only point. If it is true as Mr Musk pointed out that he had interest from two teams with a much better chance of winning, that furthers my statement. Adam was a great player for the Vikings. At the end here he and his wife seemed to take the way things went for him personally. It must not be clear to them that this business they are in is a full on meritocracy. I don't agree that the Panthers have a better chance at a championship than the Vikes in the next 2 years. Vikings 5%, Panthers 3.5%, lol.
  16. Look above ^^^ young master @nicksaviking
  17. Maybe. This looks to me like a recent, unexpected flare up for Polo. The Donnie Barrels signing had more to do with avoiding the extreme vulnerability against leftys they displayed last season.
  18. Couldn't he have gotten that money with the Vikes with a better chance to win? He picked a rebuilding team where he is the number one receiver. I don't know how many other offers he had though.
