    Onboard with this. How about instead of riding a guy until he proves beyond any shadow of doubt that it's not working, let's have a short leash, react quickly like every game counts and ride the hot hands (bats)hard.

    There are three big factors that will help determine how well our current bp does. Castro's framing, Buxton in center(outfield defense) and the coaching staff. It's been beaten to death but bullpen usage is an area that could see HUGE improvement.

    What I don't want to see is a long leash for anybody. That's why this might not be a bad option. Only bring the guy up if he's dealing in AAA. Then if they falter... next.

    Gonsalves has a chance to be a mid rotation piece with a track record superior to prospects like the recently released Slegers. These guys we're grousing about Gonsalves, Mejia, Thorpe and Romero are a large step up from what twins fans are used to. Should be fun to watch.

    I'm happy with this he not only improves the lineup but those around him will benefit from his batter box clout! The 40 man won't produce stress for me... Lets see. I guess I'd go with Granite. There is nothing about this deal that could be improved. While I completely agree with limiting the length of FA deals it is making me start to wonder if the whiz kids are against long deals altogether. We might know soon as decisions are looming

    I'm with doc on this I would be shocked if they don't sign at least Gibby and soon. I would be disappointed as well. They cannot move forward with such a bare cupboard

    4. He's a Midwestern boy who can appreciate a fine Minnesota summer. 5. After working his way back from the abyss he gained some confidence and started to lead a little. He will appreciate the place where he came of age.

    Everybody talks about the need for 7-8 starters. How the hell can you get rid of Gibby? We have three rite now that you can reasonably count on. Sign him now! I personally believe he is a late bloomer on a sustainable path to success. Plus I'd like to add that I would wager Gibby wants to be here. He is a Midwestern boy and he was just finally feeling the confidence to lead a little bit. Build around him.

    I agree with this except Thorpe has proved nothing yet so it would projection entirely.

    If your talking Caballo yes it happens but once it does the player expects to get paid like a starter and the team has a valuable trade chip. Eddie had some stretches before that year but then somebody gets hurt he gets more paying time and puts it all together. Now he's a starter and getting paid like one. Starting caliber players are very valuable in MLB and when a team has an extra one they also invariably have a hole they need to fill with that chip.

    4mm for Dozier ouch!! Bout rite though. Shoop's an ironic signing around here with all the obp talk. I've seen Shoop spank the twins before and noticed him. No doubt he has a chance to do some damage this year but I too would like to see some big money dropped

    I think just like last year there is a plus or minus range in their budget greater than 5m based opportunity. For example they were maybe done last year but when Morrison was available for cheap (6.5m) they said what the heck. So i would say this definitely does not hamper their budget. Plus if he looks similar to Austin let him go or if he looks good and you keep him you can always trade him mid season. We didn't give up anything for him. Where's the problem?

    There was a story here with pictures showing how his circle change grip was visible during his pitching motion tipping off the pitch. That may be part of it. As a gimmicky pitcher the mystery may have faded. He is a guy who relies heavily on deception. It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back next year.

    This is where I like this for young starters who aren't going nine the vast majority of the time. If you were dialed in with a guy that could go two against tough lineup and set the tone that might be a way to lead the young guy. Many variables. Baseball is a slow moving sport that is losing traction in these short attention span times. Embracing the cerebral may be the way to go

    I think this is true and why Buxton would be well served to break out before he signs a mega deal. One may not be waiting when he is in his 30's and has lost a step.

    I was not surprised at the level of spending last year and could easily see them topping it this year. They did not hamstring themselves with bad deals last year and that made me happy giving me confidence going forward. I don't see them signing Buxton yet.

    Well most of this is Greek to me but not much has changed the most popular game in town is still the same (NFL)

    If we can get anything for our glut of AAA starters I'm all for it. I want to keep Gibson, Berrios, Pineda, Mejia and Romero the rest AAA or above have at it. Of course then add an Odorizzi upgrade or keep him if that doesn't happen.
