"If we're being honest with ourselves, the Minnesota Twins probably aren't going to go out and sign Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg this winter." This is CORRECT....and also the explanation for why we absolutely CANNOT trade Balazovic!
  2. D.C Twins
Ok, Ok, last one... I believe Arraez will NOT have a large regression. Plate discipline, intelligence and lack of holes in a swing go a long way toward combating regression..... 4 out of 5 arm-chair-scout/manager/GM/owners agree!
  3. D.C Twins
Also, Cruz was a fantastic player and teammate this year. I expect him to be every bit as good of a teammate next year, but he cannot be expected to match the production he had this year with one more year of tread worn off the tires... Another obvious regression candidate to no fault of his own

Yet another reason why pitching needs to be fortified if we expect to compete This team is not promised even 90s wins next year much less playoff success without aggressive moves to improve. Pohlads, What's in YOUR wallet?!
  5. D.C Twins
I think he is special and will be "ready" by July 1 and then it will be up to the Twins' needs. I hope they keep Eddie, pass on Cron and rotate Sano/Garver/Cruz occasionally while "leaving the light on" for the K-Man to Komith

Let us not forget that Gonsalves has a MAJOR problem with walks in the minors culminating with nearly a walk per inning (22 BB in 24 innings pitched) in the MLB in 2018.... After looking up advanced statistics a came up with this intricate formula: control problems + lowish velo = a pounding in MLB I certainly HOPE that Gonsalves is NOT a big part of our plans going forward (
  7. D.C Twins
No....we need not over complicate things.... The priorities are: 1. Playoff worthy starting pitching 2. Playoff worthy starting pitching ...and wait...what am I forgetting....oh yeah! 3. Playoff worthy starting pitching
  8. D.C Twins
Nice work Nick. Great read. I suspect he'll stay with the Twins because unfortunately no one will offer enough pitching to make it worth our while...second I would go with.... The Angels....always best to try to make deals with teams that feel urgency and they fit the mold...
  9. D.C Twins
They had at least two starting pitchers better than Berrios for the playoffs. The FO and ownership need to write that on their blackboard at least 100 times before beginning the off season if they want to compete for a WS. It's really that simple
  10. D.C Twins
Nope....move Sano to first already....time to embrace the inevitable...
  11. D.C Twins
Trade value he'd bring back right now would likely not be worth it. Need to keep him and see what happens. Hopefully he tears up AAA out of the gates and then we can sell higher or sell an MLB to make room. Trading right now is selling low
  12. D.C Twins
Washington and Houston are likely the WS duo. Both have at least TWO pitchers better than Berrios. High bar, but the one that needs to be cleared if we want to be anything more than The Playoff Patsy (TM pending
  13. D.C Twins
Dear FO, You need 2 starting pitchers better than Berrios and chances are ownership won't be able to find their wallet much less know what is in it Time to start figuring out which top ten prospects (or current outfielders) you are willing to trade for pitching. Love, Any Future Season Ticket Holders
  14. D.C Twins
Dear Ownership Free Agency begins 5 days after the WS. You need 2 starting pitchers better than Berrios. Do you know what's in your wallet?! Love, Any Future Season Ticket Holders
  15. D.C Twins
These are good thought in theory, but it matters how games are lost. The Twins are being overwhelmed in every aspect of the game....and I wouldn't count on the Yankees suddenly losing focus in the playoffs.
  16. D.C Twins
Good thing that we saved Odo and Rodgers until the series was effectively over.... I think we can all agree that It is super important that they are really well rested for the games that will never be played!
  17. D.C Twins
Any plan better add 2 starting pitchers via trade or FA to drop Berrios the #3 starter or their chances of being a legit WS contender won't change enough to really matter. ....and that is a fact
  18. D.C Twins
Dear FO, This playoff outcome was foretold to you by many when you chose to cling to your precious prospects instead of trading for pitching. We now tell you that history will repeat next year unless you change your ways. Love, Espousers of the Obvious

  20. D.C Twins
Did we see a dress run today for a planned bullpen game in the playoffs?
  21. D.C Twins
Dear Rocco, Go immediately to the chalkboard and write "Arraez will bat leadoff in all playoff games" 100 times. Love, Your chances of winning
  22. D.C Twins
    This....This...and........oh yeah.....This
  23. D.C Twins
If any of us had suggested on TD even 2 months ago that Randy Dobnak would be a near-consensus #3 starter in the playoffs, all warning points would have been bypassed and we would have just been kicked right off the site for cause... Twins baseball this year has been many things, but never boring! Time to have some fun just enjoying that we are going to have some postseason play! Let's GO!
  24. D.C Twins
Dear Cart, me thinks that Lewis needs to do a little something more than an OPS around 0.650 and a SO/BB rate of 3:1 against A+/AA before we need to really discuss where he'll play in the MLB Love, The Horse
  25. D.C Twins
The offense needs to go into every playoff game assuming it needs 10 runs..... Let the homerun derby begin!
