  1. I still say the A's ran somebody else out there dressed in a Robbie Grossman suit.
  2. Thanks Seth. He has a great baseball name, and it sounds like he has a great work ethic. I think one of the hardest transitions to professional sports is learning how to work hard. The players today have access to so much to improve their game it can be overwhelming. I love the experience of our coaches in the lower minors and their ability to help the young guys. Go Twins.
  3. I think Polanco just needs to find a consistent arm angle for his throws and work on it. If he can cut down on the crappy throws his defense would look much better. Arraez will be ok at 2B with better footwork and agility confidence, but some here might be right that he has more value as a super utility player (post Marwin). We'll have to see if Gordon can stay on the field and be reliable. Blankenhorn is a baseball player and will be an asset however he is used.
  4. Pulling for infielder Levi Michael. A Twins 1st round pick in 2011 that didn't pan out, is back after a year in the Mets organization and a year in the minors with the Giants. Hope he plays well and gets a chance to get some MLB at bats. Go Twins.
  5. The Twins have found a way to keep Buxton off the disabled list by not playing him in any games. So far, it seems to be working.
  6. According to Wikipedia, "Mass is both a property of a physical body and a measure of its resistance to acceleration (a change in its state of motion) when a net force is applied. An object's mass also determines the strength of its gravitational attraction to other bodies." So I guess he'll be slower to 1B but more groundballs will be heading his way.
  7. I'd take a flyer on Derek Molina.
  8. I'm pulling for Meat Locker too.
  9. Why is it that the heads of all the major league sports are pencil-necked geeks? I agree that this whole cheating scandal thing is not settled in the minds of the players. I hope they find a way to get some retribution/justice without it getting too ugly or dangerous. Again, 0-162 for the Astros. I hope we bomba them into oblivion. And lets start calling them the Cheetos. They already have orange uniforms.
  10. I'd like the Astros to go 0-162 this year, with games not even being close.
  11. Maybe I wasn't clear. I believe in penalties being in place for wrong doing and the enforcement of them. It's pretty hard to levy punishment on players 3 years later if they play for other teams as this would unfairly harm organizations who weren't involved in wrong doing. Players/Managers/GM's should have raised their concerns while the cheating was occurring so the league could have dealt with it forth right. Beyond that, if I'm a player and the other team is cheating against me, I'm taking steps to stop it.
  12. Not very encouraging. When I hear, "Wilson Ramos", I feel like Moe of the 3 stooges in the Niagara Falls routine.
  13. With the number of pitchers teams are using these days during the season, you can't have too many capable bodies on hand. I think the Twins have set themselves up pretty good in this department. It will be interesting to see who breaks camp on the MLB roster. Starting Rotation Projection: Berrios, Odorizzi, Maeda, Bailey, Dobnak. At least until Pineda returns. Also, I think Fernando Romero pitches his way back into a MLB role.
  14. Nascar uses secure tech for team communication during races, why can't Baseball for in-game communication like signs and defensive placement? This would also work for babe watching.
  15. In an earlier thread after I thought a few comments were getting a little over zealous I wrote, "I think all the fans that attended Astros home games are also complicit and they should ban all attendance for one year. C'mon, it's a game. Getting away with bending/breaking the rules goes as far back as competition was invented." I was joking about the first part. Bending and breaking the rules comes with competition. I like in the NHL, if you have a beef you have to bring it to the Ref's attention during the game, not after. I think some of this applies here. Why didn't a catcher or pitcher stop the game, talk with the umpire and try to stop it WHILE it was occurring? If I'm on the mound and hear that banging and figure out it's the other team possibly illegally stealing signs? I'm telling them to knock it off and if I hear any more banging while I'm pitching, I don't care who it is at the plate, I'm planting a fastball in his ribcage.
  16. Or agent/agency, Agreed. It's not collusion or anything, just business. I also don't think this negatively impacts a potential multi-year contract. But I also think José would like a crack at free agency. The combination of his effectiveness, consistency and durability is attractive to every team in baseball.
  17. Living in New England provided the opportunity to listen to Jerry Remy and Dan Orsillo call Red Sox games. Those guys were like a show unto themselves. What a hoot. Even if you weren't a baseball fan, their banter on life and the world sometimes was priceless. From fashion to pizza to mascots, these guys had incredibly funny insights. Oh yeah, and called a good baseball game. Confirming a promotional gig with Jerry Remy, “There’ll be food, right?” he asks. “I was told there was a sandwich.”
  18. Walker played independent league ball for the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association and had a typical ABW year, bating .249 with lots of homers, lots of strikeouts and not enough walks. Fun player to follow in the minors.
  19. Caleb Thielbar making the team would be a nice story. Meat Locker power.
  20. Not sure we have a Walker to invite to camp, unless we sign free agent pitcher Taijuan Walker which has been rumored we might be interested in on a minor league deal. We'll see.
  21. Handbook says he has a show-me curve and a very sharp slider and both can generate swinging strikes. Sounds rather good to me. Big frame size with easy delivery reaching 100 mph; I'll take some of that.
