  1. << To add some fun....saw the idea of removing the screens protecting the cardboard people.....make foul balls a lot more fun........ >> Oh heck yes!!!! This is brilliant. Imagine a foul tip that would usually hit the screen nail one of the cardboard hecklers separating his head from the rest of his fake carcass. Would make this season infinitely more interesting. Priceless.

  3. Plus, don't we like guys who have alphabet soup names?
  4. I find this picture somehow disturbing. At least Sponge Bob looks like he's having a good time.
  5. Let's not forget softballer Aaron Whitefield making his debut as a pinch runner, scoring a run and getting to shag a flyball.
  6. Coming to America . . . where's Fernando?
  7. I want this for my doorbell chime!!!
  8. Nice music intro
  9. Play Ball! It all counts.
  10. I'll say it now: Eddie Rosario will win the AL Batting Title.
  11. "Once again the talent-laden Minnesota offense completely shut down on the biggest stage." You would think realism would only go so far. Big-Game Eddie, how we miss you.
  12. I saw Noel Paul Stookey in a one-man concert a millennium ago, on campus at Concordia I think. A mix of music and stories that illuminate his life and make yours brighter. Awesome.
  13. If any records fall, I see an asterisk attached to them.
  14. Last year Kepler had reverse splits L vs R. Re-upping his game vs RHP would make this awesome lineup even deadlier.
  15. So, Parker Hageman is still alive.
  16. Not necessarily. In 2006 when we had expectations of a good season (and ended up winning the division), the Twins were 12-18 and 9 games out of 1st place after 30 games. After 60 games their record was 27-33 and 10.5 games out. This is what a 60 game season is, a sprint. It won't really tell you if your team is good or bad (except this year), just a 60 game stretch in most seasons.
  17. It's such a weird year for MLB and no MiLB. If there is injury or illness we might see a few guys we weren't really counting on. I would expect that since the Twins are in it to win this year, who ever is called up will be the player most likely to help immediately rather than development time at the MLB level. But then, who knows. What happens if the Twins falter out of the gate and some other teams start out hot and 30 games in (half the season) you're 8 games out with only 30 to play? It's gonna be a sprint to the finish this year. Hang on to your butts.
  18. Has anyone who has won the award expressed any "problems" with the named award when they received it? I agree that it should be an award that all who receive it should be proud. Barry Larkin won it 25 years ago. Did he have a problem then? I'm not trying to be adversarial here; everybody has had some really good comments. It seems to me it should be up to the players to ask the BBWAA to change it, if anybody. Meanwhile, back to baseball. Go Twins!!
  19. At their 1944 meeting, the writers (BBWAA) renamed the MVP trophy the Kenesaw Mountain Landis Award. The commissioner died one month later, but his name remains on the award to this day. I think it should just be the MVP Trophy. Ask the Writers.
  20. And part Canadian Chippewa.
  21. In the end, does this mean I have to return my awards in education because I once hit a teacher in the back of the head with an eraser?
  22. Kenesaw Landis may have been a racist SOB but he shaped the direction of MLB for better or worse. What are we supposed to answer when asked who was Commissioner of Baseball from 1920-44, "He who shall remain unnamed?"
  23. Being a top prospect and being major league ready are 2 different things. Javier has a ways to go to be considered for a MLB roster which is why I think he cleared the Rule 5 draft.
  24. I knew Jack Reinheimer would make it. Wait . . . what?
