  1. Steve71: EXACTLY the problem with the Twins Organization in general. And specifically with: their ownership, their PBO, their General Manager, their Minor League system, their coaching, , their scouting and their drafting.
  2. It would seem that the Twins have poorly positioned themselves for an everyday replacement for the departed Eddie Rosario.. They need to "clear the decks" of players in the pipeline that do not profile as holding down a permanent corner outfield position. They also need to clearly define and execute a long range positional plan for Alex Kirilloff. 1B? OF? The team is in a (contractual) good long term place with Max Kepler. Fact is, it is easier to "bury" a less than stellar defensive corner outfielder in RF than in LF. Having a LHSP or two, also takes some of the defensive pressure off of whomever is patrolling RF. Why is it that the Twins continue to play Kepler in RF? I thought I read somewhere that Kepler prefers to play LF? If Kepler played LF, his glove hand would be at the LF line. What direction is Buxton better at moving towards in terms of reading fly balls and breaking off the bat? Although I can understand the reluctance of the Twins to dive into the NPB posting pool after their regrettable prior experience, a foray into the Seiya Suzuki posting pool would seem to be a no-brainer. The Twins already have a fellow countryman on their roster who could provide support to Suzuki and make the transition to MLB that much smoother and perhaps provide and edge in negotiations. Such an addition would provide a contractually stable, long term Outfield alignment of: Kepler - Buxton - Suzuki!!
  3. It's not Rocket Science. He was seeing less FB and more CU & CB so he either slowed his swing or delayed it's start so the FB he did see, he was late for and missed. Gaining recognition of CU & CB may improve with time and coaching.
  4. By the way, what was the FO of the starting pitching poor Twins doing when Al Leiter Jr signed with the Cubs?? His work in Triple-A was particularly sharp, as he totaled 89 innings of 3.34 ERA ball with an outstanding 30.5% strikeout rate, a strong 6.6% walk rate and an above-average 46.9% ground-ball rate through 17 appearances (15 starts). Those numbers fall in line with Leiter’s prior success in Triple-A, where he now has a career 3.60 ERA, 29.1% strikeout rate and 6.9% walk rate in 147 1/3 innings. (From MLB Trade Rumors)
  5. So what is he Whiffing on? Can it be fixed with the right hitting instruction? Curveballs? Sliders,? Change-ups? Fishing after low & outside? Can't lay off High Heat? Unless you have Larnach penciled in in LF, or Kirilloff; who are you trotting out there ? At the very least he's a warm body for AAA.
  6. Interesting to me as well. Unfortunately the ill-fated Japanese SS contract from a while back may be a deterrent to any such future free agents. Didn't Kepler once say he PREFERRED playing LF? Also that position would have his GLOVE HAND towards the LF line. If we kept him in LF and got him out of RF and didn't bounce him to CF so that he was more comfortable in his fielding, perhaps his offense would then start to come around?
  7. Trade with the Giants for LaMonte Wade and Jaylen Davis !! Those are the kind of OF the Twins need to develop!!
  8. The appeal of the Twins is: they are always screaming POVERTY, the team seems to lack a PLAN, "fan" interest is waning AND you get to pitch OUTDOORS in MINNESOTA in April, May, September & October !! (sarcasm intended)
  9. Unbeknownst to most Twins' fans, Josh Donaldson has hired a Veterinarian this current off-season. The Veterinarian is working with Donaldson's CALVES !!
  10. WOW !! The comments and ideas are REALLY ROLLING in. Guess all the REAL Twins fans have replied.....
  11. BEFORE any consideration is given to taking back a bad contract to enable the Twins to add attractive pieces, the trading away of Josh Donaldson and his contract needs to take place. Arraez needs to be retained to play 3B until the next wave of talent arrives so that a MLB ready 3B is not needed in return. So, the question remains, which team(s) would be interested in Donaldson if the price is right?
  12. The Minnesota Twins will soon announce the next round of MLB Coaching additions: Assistant to the Assistant Bench Coach Assistant to the Assistant Pitching Coach Assistant to the Assistant Hitting Coach
  13. THANK GOODNESS !! The Twins Figured it Out !! The Team’s UNDERWHELMING 2021 Performance WAS ENTIRELY DUE TO HAVING The WRONG COACHES in the WRONG COACHING JOBS AND NOT HAVING NEARLY ENOUGH MAJOR LEAGUE COACHES ON STAFF !!
  14. Twins should be looking for a third team to involve in an Oakland trade. Who would be interested in 2 years of Donaldson and what kind of prospects would/could they send to Oakland with the Twins chipping in prospects and getting pitching??
  15. Unfortunately, the FO is unable to show us that because all they are interested in is APPEARING to be competitive. The current Pohlad's learned their Fred Flintstone business philosophy from PAPA CARL. " You're in the business army now, your only friends a buck and the more bucks you've got, the more friends you've got". The resigning of Buxton was just done to appease the fan base just as the Mauer signing was.
  16. Why trade 2 established MLB players in Kepler and Garver for the Yankees #2 SS PROSPECT Peraza (who is not a guarantee to be a MLB caliber SS - REMEMBER Aaron Hicks for John Ryan Murphy ???) Seems like the Twins should either be giving the Yanks less or getting back much more.
  17. NO LONGER POSSIBLE !! It was all just posturing for the fan base. The Twins will be "linked" to EVERY MLB Free Agent !!
  18. Yea Right !! Only so they can call out to the fan base, "Well, we tried !!"
  19. Only got done as opposed to a trade to please the fans. As was the case with the Mauer contract, ownership did not want to alienate the fan base. During the term of his contract, while he is collecting a handsome payout while once again on the Disabled List, the fans will be moaning and groaning about the size of his contract while the front office will be explaining that the team is too poor to surround Buxton with the talent necessary for the team to be successful. (See Mauer, Joe) This also means that the long term status of Donaldson has been determined. There is no future for him in Minnesota. He will either be traded prior to the end of his contract or will be allowed to walk after the end of his contract
  20. Should the Twins wish to sign Buxton, clauses in the contract such as "opt out" and "performance incentives" can be structured in such a way as to reach a contract acceptable to both sides. The fact that an agreement has not yet taken place indicates that Buxton will soon be gone from the Twins. That being the case, the Twins need to be both proactive and aggressive in identifying trade partners. This organization cannot revert to the Ryan philosophy of just fielding offers. The Twins need to identify the SPECIFIC players they want in return and find a way of putting together a trade that lands them that talent. That includes an area in which the Twins have been deficient in over the years = multi team trades.
  21. Carl and his offspring adhere to the Fred Flintstone philosophy of BUSINESS "Your only friend's a buck and the more bucks you've got, the more friends you've got" Contrary to the belief that: "You've got to spend money to make money"
  22. IF Buxton is not traded. He will reign in his on field efforts to enable himself to stay uninjured through the season so he can "cash in" at the season's end. No highlights in 2022 of Buxton crashing into walls, diving to make catches: it's all about posturing for a big payoff.
  23. San Francisco helped us out once before when they wanted AJ. They need a CF, Taylor Roger's brother is there, and Longoria has a year left on his contract. What about Buxton, Rogers, Donaldson to SF for Longoria, a MLB OF that can play CF, and a handful of prospects? That should keep the cheap Pohlad family happy without Carl turning over in his grave ....
  24. What is the logic behind requiring that players on the 60 day IL be added back onto the roster at the conclusion of the season? Why is it then that the same players can then be moved off the roster and onto the 60 day IL at the beginning of the next season? With the recovery time associated with knee and arm injuries requiring surgery as well as the ability of information and documentation afforded by technology, there is no reason that surgically recovering players should not be able to remain on the 60 Day IL once placed on it, until such time that they are medically cleared to return.. Stashing is more difficult these days.
