  1. With regard to each and every trade (some more so than others) Not enough quality was received. Not enough quantity was received. Not enough needs at MLB & MiLB were met. There should be an outcry for the termination of the staff who made these trades.
  2. Grade = F Too many of these trades should never have taken place based on the feeble return that was received.
  3. So the same level of return for all the other players the have traded before the deadline.
  4. Both Julian and Miranda should be shopped for the same types of players on other teams. Players who have: been given multiple chances to "make it", have exhausted their options, are clogging up a team's 40 man roster, are viewed as possibly just needing a change of scenery or a different coaching philosophy. Focus on position players who could fill organizational needs = Catcher, First Base, Outfielder with good speed & Defense.
  5. Just because a player has "made it" to the big leagues, that shouldn't mean that their development and the "fixing" of their weaknesses should stop. That is what the coaches at the MLB level are PAID TO DO. Every member of a team should be able to lay down a bunt. Every member of a team should be able to steal a base and/or take an extra base. Every MLB pitcher should be able to field their position AND make an accurate throw to ANY BASE.
  6. Refresh my memory. How did the last two catchers we got from the Dodgers work out??
  7. Sweeper, Sinker, Cutter. Whatever happened to: Fastball, Curve, Change, Slider?? Just another JUNK Baller !
  8. Interesting strategy. Draft a bunch of pitchers but not any catchers for them to throw to.
  9. Send him to the Mayo Clinic and have some experts check out that troublesome hip.
  10. Wasn't this the game in which the Twinkies, in one of the middle innings with the score tied 2-2 had runners on 1st & 2nd with NO OUTS and did not bunt the runners over? The inning ended with the runners stranded. They must call him ROCCO because that is what he has in his head when it comes to baseball strategy. As soon as that happened, I knew the Twinkies would end up losing.
  11. Both will be lucky to be called up in September. Meanwhile, they can work on becoming worthy of being on a MLB roster.
  12. Your proposed "solutions" are just band-aids and do nothing to fix the root cause(s) of the DFA problem. The game has evolved, injuries are becoming more frequent and the rules that have been in place since time began are no longer viable in today's environment. Compounding matters is the deep pockets of some teams that allows them to freely spend on adding of free agents to their teams which renders teams that rely on the draft, trades and development to being "feeder" clubs of players to the high revenue clubs. The 40 man roster is no longer viable and should be raised. The 26 man roster is no longer viable and should be raised. The team roster should be at least 30 players till May 1st due to the frequency of "Spring" injuries that seem to befall players. The number of option years for players is inadequate, counter productive and not in the best interests of both organization and player. Too many decisions on the status of players are being driven by the fact that the player is "out of options". Shouldn't the player have some say so if he is optioned? And how many years he is willing to be optioned? Players are people and do develop their skills over different increments of time. A set limitation of time cannot realistically be applied like it was peanut butter. Lower revenue teams should have a higher(Currently 40 man roster limit) that high revenue teams to allow them greater flexibility when it comes to developing and retaining players. Reform of these above factors will help in reigning in the problem.
  13. With regard to new ownership: The rumor going around is that the new owners will relocate the team to Emporia, KS and rename the team "The Hostess Twinkies".
  14. John Castino had back issues that moved him off of 3B and over to 2B. Lee has back issues
  15. Management better hope that France brings something to the table since, although he was signed as a free agent, his addition cost the Twins the services of: Ronny Henriquez, Brent Headrick for NOTHING and Michael Helman for pocket change as well as probably costing them a pleasant long term relationship with Jose Miranda and possibly, if he is moved to 2B, Royce Lewis.
  16. Fans are holding out that with an injury to Duran, Blewett replaces him as CLOSER.
  17. Front Office Bungling !! If they wanted Castellano so bad, but are worried at the possibility of having to offer him back, then why not trade for his rights outright? Twinkies just sent out: Helman, Headrick and Henriquez for just pennies. Couldn't one of those three or another member of the 40 man roster been used to get Castellano free and clear ??
  18. If all 3 are still even in the organization, they will be playing in St. Paul, NOT Minneapolis.
  19. BTW, perhaps Ponder could rejoin the Vikings as JJ's Back-up. He is WELL RESTED !!
  20. Yea, Bill's movie career hasn't taken off like he thought it would since he left SNL, so he needs the money and is trying this !!
