    Twins can offer exensions to Buxton until they are blue in the face. It remains up to Buxton and his agent whether ANY of those extension offers are even considered, yet alone signed. In the end, being a part of a successful, winning, contending, big market, high profile organizations will win out over whatever the Twins offer. The Twins' organization needs to face up to the inevitable and plan on an existence WITHOUT Buxton. Time to figure out NOW whether to trade him, trade him for what, or issue him a QA and take the draft pick when the QA is declined. So then, who is in CF??

    Thanks all for the education on obtaining a visa to the USA. Somebody in the EMPLOYERS office needs to become aware Of how the application when submitted with some extra financial lubrication Can be made to swiftly slide through the approval process.

    Crack the whip. Get the Feds involved. Player gets in to the USA on an expedited basis or No cushy job for the US consul. No foreign aid for that country.....

    Are these "Visa issues" in pro sports more about the maturity and accountability of the players? It's not like the actual dates of Spring Training were just established and finalized. It's not like the fact that a Visa is required to enter the USA was just invented out of thin air. The players have a signed contract to perform their jobs and getting in to the USA is a part of that contract. If nothing else, the player's agent should be "babysitting" the players to ensure that all necessary paperwork to secure a Visa has been submitted and processed in a timely manner that allows the player to report to Spring Training when it is to begin. In fact, a player who is joining a new team should have extra desire to arrive at Spring Training EARLY to: forge a comradery with their new teammates, establish relationships with a new coaching staff, and to get situated and familiar with a new Spring Training site. This continual, annual "Visa Issue" situation speaks to the lack of a player's maturity, motivation, desire and commitment. Each and every time this delay takes place should give organizations pause out of concern for the player's motivation..

    Unfortunately, pro sports has moved far down the road of becoming just businesses. As stated by that underappreciated observer of society, Fred Flintstone, " You're in the business army now, your only friend is a buck and the more bucks you've got, the more friends you've got. This applies to both sides of the pro sports equation.
