    I'm not too sure that Joe isn't able to be moved. We really don't know how the organization feels about keeping him and we don't know how Joe feels about either moving on or retiring. It is plain to see that the Twins are in total rebuild mode, and won't be in contention at any time during the final 2 years of Joe's contract. Like many players facing the end of their playing days, perhaps Joe would welcome the opportunity to join a contending team that would provide him with a realistic opportunity to play in the World Series. Now that he is a family man, perhaps he would prefer being able to play half of his games near his year round home. There are options for both the Twins and for Joe to separate themselves and still enable both sides to hold their heads high. 1) Offer him $5 million a year for 10 years to retire and offer him a position as a roving minor league catching instructor. 2) Eat some of his contract and trade him to Boston (remember that Boston has spring training in Fort Myers where Mauer has a home) to take Papi's place as their DH. 3) Eat some of his contract and trade him to Tampa as a 1B/DH as Tampa is the team nearest Joe's Fort Myers home. Start talking.

    "They have enough offensive quality throughout their lineup that they can afford to target glove-first players who deliver value primarily with their defense." DISAGREE.... The current offense contributes: too many double play balls, too many strikeouts, too many SOLO homeruns, too many wasted at bats (outs that do not advance a runner) AND too few clutch hits, too few walks, too few sacrifice hits, too few stolen bases and too few hits off of quality pitches.

    What numbers do you have on: Double Play Balls = How many for the team & How many by player? What percentage of homeruns were solo shots by team & player? What percentage of homeruns actually put us ahead or won ballgames? How many of the other teams batters scored after reaching base via walk? By team and pitcher, what do the stats on inherited runners scored show? By team and player, what do the stats show on runners LOB? By team and player, what do the stats show on runners left in scoring position? By team and pitcher, what do the stats show on extra base hits given up? By outfielder, what do the stats show on extra base hits to them?

    Missed out on a young catcher with MLB experience when SF traded Andrew Susac to Milwaukee (along with SP candidate Phil Bickford) for a reliever - who has had questionable results thus far with SF. Should an expansion of the Nunez trade have been explored at that time? We could have beaten Milwaukee to the punch? Couldn't we have moved either Abad or Kinzler to them before the deadline before SF got in bed with Milwaukee? What have you got to say for yourself, Rob????

    They got Hicks for waiver $$, then the GM exposed him to waivers (Mistake) for the sake of adding an aging outfielder to the 40 man roster so he could be added to the 25 man roster (MISTAKE) but didn't bother to check with said outfielder prior to making that move (MISTAKE) only to be informed by said outfielder that he was done. Hicks was then lost on waivers to a division rival with their own catching issues. BTW - how is Hicks doing at AAA for the Tigers?? He is one of 3 catchers on the Tigers 40 man roster......

    Since the Twin's system is so flushed with catching talent that we can give away talent at the position, how is Hicks doing for the Tigers??
