    I was bummed to see they aren't selling, But, what if... It works out? If they have 425M in debt, my guess is the new "partners" are bringing in enough money to offset that amount or more. I think they do know and understand that a winning team puts people in the seats which drives revenue, which drives value. With the debt cleared, my bet is that they spend on free agents. Do I think they'll go crazy? No. Do I think they will spend a reasonable amount to make the team competitive....yes. They have before and I think they'll do it again.

    If i'm the front office and I know the new ownership is going to spend out of the gate, i'm creating organizational depth. Relievers break down and are not the most reliable group so trading from that strength is smart. If you add 2-3 bats and maybe a starter under new ownership, all of a sudden you have a very deep system to plug holes with. The Pohlads completely hamstrung the front office this year and I can't blame them for tearing it down before new ownership arrives. People hate that they gave up Varland, but I think Roden looks like he's got a chance to be a player and i'd happily trade a reliever for a potential impact bat everyday every day of the week. I think by this time next year people will look back on how they sold this deadline as a slick move. Maybe i'll be wrong...I dunno.

    This might be an unpopular opinion but i'm fine with all of it. I'm guessing that regarding Varland, who they know way better than we do, that there was some kind of issue. With Jax...he's in his 30's and thats when guys start breaking down. I think they know that with new ownership coming in that they have a strong minor league system and this creates even more depth. I HIGHLY doubt a new ownership group is going to come in and be cheap...at least not initially. New owners are more likely to come in and spend a bunch of money to bring in high end talent...which when combined with whats coming from the farm (particularly pitching) and you have a recipe for sustained success. I'm not that worried about all this. It might sting the rest of this year and next year, but I'm happy to see what should be a quick rebuild. Hope they don't win a game the rest of the year and hit it in the draft lotto.

    This "core" was never going to win a world series. Blow it ALL up...new owners then come in...play the prospects for a year and see what you have. Then start spending money on free agents. EZ.

    well, its not inconceivable that the Pohlads will retain some piece of the ownership pie. If that ends up being the case it would make sense that you would do some restructuring. A new majority owner may come in and clean house but i'm guessing minority owners would have some say, especially if its the Pohlads.

    thats just your PTSD talking. With a relatively new stadium with an attractive lease in a mid major market there is zero chance MLB would sign off on moving the twins to either of those markets. Or any market.

    There is a .00001% chance Kepler plays for the Twins next year. It is what it is. Ownership hamstrung the FO this year...not much use in whining about it. Assuming they get to the playoffs, I don't mind their front three...especially in a SSS like the playoffs and there are arms in the minors that could potentially help the BP. Not ideal, but thats what we got this year.

    Not even a little bit. I'd bet the twins feel like AB's are more important than playing in the field at this point. Playing the field everyday gives more chance for re-aggravation and they probably want to get some development out of him this year rather than risk further injury. I'd also bet that as we get into late july/august he's playing more in the field.

    Heres the thing...the original post was mostly tongue in cheek...to the few of those that it apparently triggered...relax...take a deep breath...everything is going to be ok. That said...Most of us baseball nerds are forum nerds in general and thats why we're here. MANY front office types are also nerds...and are undoubtedly forum nerds...be it baseball or whatever. There is a long list of front office people that are well noted from some old school sabermetric forums, so to think that none of the front office are here and keeping tabs on what is being discussed here is naive. Are they interested in the opinions...I would say absolutely not. Not in a meaningful 'oh thats a great idea kind of way'. Is Falvine making posts? Of course not. Do any of them have a casual interest in whats going on here? Of course they do. Humans like/need validation and I have no doubt that some would come here to see how their decisions are playing out among the hardcore fans. I do think its hilarious that potential well known poster could actually be an alt account for somebody in the front office...its highly highly unlikely but funny nonetheless.

    ...are undercover members of the site? I have to image that at some point, some front office members have made accounts here. I find it terribly hilarious to think of the possibility that some of the more outspoken defenders of the front office are actually a part of the front office. Highly doubtful obviously...but i'm sure they are here and are lurking around.

    This type of drastic drop off in performance usually precedes some kind of injury. My bet would be that he isn't 100% healthy and is trying to pitch through whatever the issue is.

    He may very well not end up as an impact starter...but the talent is there. If he avoids Tommy John surgey and becomes a high impact bullpen arm...thats an outcome that is just fine. Jhoan Duran was once a highly touted starting prospect and I don't think anybody cares at this point that he's in the bullpen.
