  1. I'm shocked that after this weekend half the people on this site aren't screaming "TRADE HIM".
  2. saw this and thought, I should drive down. Went to buy tickets and caught that its a 2pm game. bummer.
  3. I would say Grossman and Gimenez wont be back next year. That would free up at bats for Garver. While he's warranted a call up with his play this year, there just isn't room right now.
  4. This team out performed expectations early and has slid back to what they really have been all along. Even if they made the playoffs, they would have had zero chance to get through NY or Houston. Great moves to strengthen the system. Guys who just got to AA or have the Stats in high A to warrant a move to AA within a year are the guys you want to target. Kintzler and Garcia simply were not worth a prospect(s) on the verge of being MLB ready. With Mauer being in his last year next year its not inconceivable that the FO wont sign an impact arm this off-season and another the following year.. Sprinkle in what we have in AA right now and you have the makings of solid staff in 2019. The next couple of years look interesting with Berrios, Mejia, Gonsalves, Jorge, Romero, Littell, Rosario, Curtiss, Bard, Moya and a few others could round out a nice staff with a few veteran additions.
  5. I'm guessing that they would probably rather not make a 40 man move if they dont have to, so my guess is it wont be Gonsalves. Even though it lines up well for him. I don't think Gee has pitched in since he was DFA'd, so I dont think it would be him either. Jorge or Romero seem to be the most logical...fingers crossed.
  6. Well...Santiago to the DL... Curious to see who they go with. Probably Gee but I sure hope not.
  7. My point is that 2 of the last 3 years they are or have been a contending team. You don't trade two of your anchors during the season. I would argue that offense, good defense and decent enough starting pitching isn't smoke and mirrors. Quite frankly, the top end of the rotation has been good (enough)...the top end of the relief corps has been good (enough). I'd argue that this team isn't rebuilding. It's mostly built. Almost every team has issues with their 3,4,5,6 and 7 starters and bullpen and the twins are no different, which is why they are in contention in weaker division. Do they need to find more stability on the staff? Of course. Hopefully they will start bringing up some pitchers (both starters and relievers) for a look.
  8. Sorry, but that's a terrible take and it's never going to or should happen. Yes...last year was about as bad is could possibly get, but if you look at the last 2.5 seasons the team is extremely competitive. You don't trade your ace, all star pitcher in this case. Same with Dozier. If they could have fleeced somebody last year at his high point, fine. But the central division is weak and isn't going to get much stronger anytime soon. Cleveland may eventually separate themselves this year, but I dont see it...Chicago is treading water on a downtrend/rebuild, the Royals don't scare anybody and while better of late, are also trending down and the Tigers are selling this year. There is no reason to trade Santana, since this team is also shaping up to be one of the stronger teams in the division next year as well. This team is competing and winning, even with a mostly terrible pitching staff. I think Gibson has bought himself some time....I'd love to see Santiago DFA'd and Gonsalves or Romero slotted in. I'd also like to see Bard and Curtiss up as well. Santana is the anchor for a competitive team, trading him is ludicrous.
  9. lol. the jadedness of this place is astounding. chill out...enjoy the decent baseball while it lasts.
  10. So, you know for a fact that they didn't call the dodgers and any other teams they are dealing with before they told the media? Zero chance the Dodgers and other teams found out that way.
  11. Anybody got a line on what Jeff Gillooly and/or Tanya Harding are up to these days?
  12. I guess "very much in" means different things lol. When I saw these reports yesterday they didnt smell right...kudos to the new regime for trying to push a bit. Too bad cold water was thrown on these rumors pretty quickly. Would be nice if there were a few teams driving up the bidding.
  13. Might want to temper your your expectations a bit. He's not going to come in and fire everybody. Just because a sorely needed change at the top came, it doesn't mean there aren't people in the organization that can execute his vision. I mean, who do you replace an entire scouting department with? LOL. It's not like he's going to bring the entire scouting and analytics departments from Cleveland. Maybe a couple of trusted people but don't expect firing en masse. Three years from now the make up of the FO will probably be quite different than it is now, but to expect mass personnel changes immediately is wishful (and faulty) thinking.
  14. I love the..."trade so and so for a good prospect...." Every reason you want to dump Milone, Nolasco et al is exactly the reason why nobody else wants them...much less for a "good" prospect. Santana isn't likely going anywhere and nobody wants Milone or Nolasco. Suzuki, Nunez, and Abad may go, but won't bring back much of a return. Not much to speculate there. This trading deadline is going to be ho-hum for the Twins...garbage in garbage out, which is why TR is gone. They just don't have anybody that is worth a true prospect(s). Personally, I think the offense is fine...even with Mauer. Aside from the dismal first 1.5 months, they score plenty of runs. Hopefully the new GM is creative and can address the starting staff issues. I think you keep Santana as there isn't a better option to replace him in the system. Milone has to go, he's had enough chances and he is what he is...Nolasco can be a long reliever if you cant dump him.
