  1. in 1977 you could smoke cigs on the field. Different game now...
  2. So does baseball even really need a spring training? Why not just have these guys show up in April and get going.
  3. well, its not inconceivable that the Pohlads will retain some piece of the ownership pie. If that ends up being the case it would make sense that you would do some restructuring. A new majority owner may come in and clean house but i'm guessing minority owners would have some say, especially if its the Pohlads.
  4. thats just your PTSD talking. With a relatively new stadium with an attractive lease in a mid major market there is zero chance MLB would sign off on moving the twins to either of those markets. Or any market.
  5. There is pretty much zero chance MLB would let somebody move the twins out of this market at this point.
  6. He gone...and I dont have one.
  7. Seriously...why wouldn't he just paint the corners? Doesn't the plate get smaller though at AA? That could be it too.
  8. There is a .00001% chance Kepler plays for the Twins next year. It is what it is. Ownership hamstrung the FO this year...not much use in whining about it. Assuming they get to the playoffs, I don't mind their front three...especially in a SSS like the playoffs and there are arms in the minors that could potentially help the BP. Not ideal, but thats what we got this year.
  9. Not even a little bit. I'd bet the twins feel like AB's are more important than playing in the field at this point. Playing the field everyday gives more chance for re-aggravation and they probably want to get some development out of him this year rather than risk further injury. I'd also bet that as we get into late july/august he's playing more in the field.
  10. Heres the thing...the original post was mostly tongue in cheek...to the few of those that it apparently triggered...relax...take a deep breath...everything is going to be ok. That said...Most of us baseball nerds are forum nerds in general and thats why we're here. MANY front office types are also nerds...and are undoubtedly forum nerds...be it baseball or whatever. There is a long list of front office people that are well noted from some old school sabermetric forums, so to think that none of the front office are here and keeping tabs on what is being discussed here is naive. Are they interested in the opinions...I would say absolutely not. Not in a meaningful 'oh thats a great idea kind of way'. Is Falvine making posts? Of course not. Do any of them have a casual interest in whats going on here? Of course they do. Humans like/need validation and I have no doubt that some would come here to see how their decisions are playing out among the hardcore fans. I do think its hilarious that potential well known poster could actually be an alt account for somebody in the front office...its highly highly unlikely but funny nonetheless.
  11. ...are undercover members of the site? I have to image that at some point, some front office members have made accounts here. I find it terribly hilarious to think of the possibility that some of the more outspoken defenders of the front office are actually a part of the front office. Highly doubtful obviously...but i'm sure they are here and are lurking around.
  12. This type of drastic drop off in performance usually precedes some kind of injury. My bet would be that he isn't 100% healthy and is trying to pitch through whatever the issue is.
  13. He may very well not end up as an impact starter...but the talent is there. If he avoids Tommy John surgey and becomes a high impact bullpen arm...thats an outcome that is just fine. Jhoan Duran was once a highly touted starting prospect and I don't think anybody cares at this point that he's in the bullpen.
  14. its criminally easy to get people worked up around here.
  15. This has to be trolling. Kudos and wp sir.
  16. Why even have rehab assignments...what a waste of a generational talent.
  17. This isn't directed at you but probably all of us at one point or another... I think as fans we sometimes get a bit callous to injuries and surgeries. Sure, we would all love to see Raya pitch more innings, but you have to think of the human side and this is where i'm fine with how the Twins are handling him. Anytime you have a surgery and the body is being cut open, it's a big deal. To let him pitch beyond what he might be capable of, knowing a tommy john surgery is a likely outcome, is negligent. If your Raya...if your his parents...or the Twins...nobody wants that outcome. His arm may never be able to handle 6+ innings in one go yet if he turns into a flame throwing closer and avoids TJ surgery, I think everybody, including Raya would be just fine with that. Look at Duran...he was also a starter and was highly touted but does anybody lament at this point that he's not a starter?
  18. There is a really good article on the Athletic that speaks to this. It's a larger piece on why younger players are struggling at their first crack in the bigs. The gist is that...every pitcher in the MLB is a MLB pitcher where that isn't anywhere close to being the case in Triple A. They had a quote from JD Martinez who is on a rehab assignment asking him how he felt and said something to the effect of "I feel fine, but I haven't see any real velocity yet". They also discuss the contraction and consolidation of the minor leagues and this has bounced out older guys that are AAAA caliber. Good read if you have sub.

  20. just looking at the rankings... 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,14,17,18,20 are all out with injuries. Not a comment about anything other than... WOOF. This is by far my favorite content on this site...such a bummer all these guys are on the shelf.
  21. Minor League Forum>Everything Else Complaining about people complaining seems a bit complainey to me...but people gonna people. A little good natured trolling makes things interesting...things dont have to be so serious. lols are a good thing.
