  1. Texas is going to score, but leave waaaaaaay too much time.
  2. Texas is hanging in there. Going in I thought these teams were fairly evenly matched, and the score reflects that, but the play doesn't; OSU is clearly better. Hope they lose.
  3. As far as pro sports fans go, 'LA faithful' applies to the Dodgers and Lakers only.
  4. Yeah, we'll see what those prices drop to about an hour before kickoff. From PFT: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/rams-say-35-000-of-their-season-ticket-holders-bought-tickets-to-game-in-arizona “What an amazing showing by our fans to buy over 35k tickets in initial presales,” Demoff wrote on social media. Yeah, except that's the thing, the Rams don't have 35K FANS who own season tickets. They have 35K ticket brokers who know LA is a destination city and sell their tickets to opposing fans. What a load of spin garbage. The Rams will not have an overwhelming majority of fans here, it will be the same as in LA, an even split or worse.
  5. Never got to that one, but wish I had. I have heard nice reports about the atmosphere of the area. I would amend my statement from 'the worst stadium' to 'the most dated stadium (without major upgrades)'.
  6. I will credit the Twins for being able to play everything close to the vest. Not just with this but with trades and free agents too. Some leaks, but not like other teams. Though, perhaps our lack of bloodhound media types also plays into that equation.
  7. The Coliseum was the worst stadium in professional sports. If they'd have built a new stadium any time in the past 40 years, the A's would still be in Oakland. Not defending billionaires getting free billion dollar stadiums, just pointing out why the A's moved and why the Twins won't. The only teams that leave are the ones that demand a new stadium. The Twins are nearly last in line to do that right now.
  8. Yeah, that's what they want now, but it's super short sighted. Half the league is struggling with 21st Century TV and marketing situations, and now they're going to throw two more bottom tier markets into the mix? Yeah, great call MLB. Those new markets will be shiny and fresh for their local fans for 5-10 years than will be hanging out at the bottom of the food chain with the Pirates and Marlins. But that's pro sports owners for you. Bleed as much cash out of it as you can now and don't worry about the future.
  9. Thinking about this more, if we truly should expect new owners by opening day (I'm still skeptical), cutting back on payroll can't be a good sign. Why would the Pohlad's care if they're done writing checks come March? If payroll is being cut, wouldn't it be to appease the new owners? To be clear, moving Vazquez or Paddack could be done for goals OTHER than trimming payroll, but if they are moved, we probably need to wait before we start hailing our new masters.
  10. *****Moderator Note***** This discussion is starting to stray far from the topic. Let's get back to it.
  11. ****Moderator Note**** Stay on topic and stay away from making posts personal.
  12. I certainly didn't mean to be dismissive about the situation. I'm just suggesting that this specific type of trauma and anxiety probably impacts this specific type of person less than it would most of us.
  13. I think it's going to be Jaxson Dart. Looking at him more, I don't know why he isn't the one getting hyped. He's got the best completion percentage AND the highest yards per attempt, air yards and yards per completion in the SEC. And while he's no Jayden Daniels, he can make plays with his feet too. Way better than Ward and Sanders. And Ole Miss has been 10-3 and 11-2 the last two years. !Ole Miss! They've NEVER been this good.
  14. I'm sure billionaires are good at keeping things quiet when it benefits them. And of course good about leaking stuff when that benefits them as well. Really, I think we were in the dark and they've been readying for this sale for an entire year. I'd bet good money that the 'right-sizing' payroll freeze last offseason was a reaction to the Pohlad's decision to sell, we just didn't know about it then.
  15. New-ish stadium and a top 20 market in the country; MLB won't let them move any time soon. They need to save the threat of relocation for teams that want a new stadium, and the Twins are 28th in that line currently.
  16. With how hard Boston has been pushing to trade Casas, every other GM in the league should read the tea leaves. No interest in a soon-to-be-full time DH.
  17. I think they'll be OK. At least better than the average Joe who's going to go into a reminiscence depression when they hear the diner they've been eating at since they were ten burned down. These are definitely their 'homes' but NFL players are pretty nomadic. I think as long as their families got out, they'll handle it in stride. And we'd have heard about it if their families didn't get out.
  18. Mine when up yesterday to both Phoenix and Vegas. Not surprised either. I'm at an reginal airport with a handful of decent direct flights. I go to one Vikings road game a year and those flights are marked up the SECOND the schedule is released. I was at my computer waiting last year because I suspected that was the case and wanted to confirm. The airlines know this stuff before we do.
  19. I can't imagine the Pohlads would do any more big money extensions before closing up shop. No matter when a sale happens, at this point Falvey will be in charge through at least the 2025 season though; it's too late to replace him. So I suppose it's possible that Falvey and Boras have knowledge the general public doesn't and know which way the wind is blowing in terms of new owners. But that would imply a healthy level of optimism that I have been unwilling to bet on concerning the future ownership of this club. I'd be happy if my skepticism turns out to be unfounded and we get a sugar daddy though.
  20. This loss of homefield advantage could easily turn into chip-on-our-shoulders advantage for the Rams if McVey and the media spin this all sympathetically.
  21. Not sure if the Pohlad's care any longer. Weird that the players wouldn't fight tooth and nail knowing ownership is only concerned with the sale at this point. There must be some other angle that we (or just me) aren't considering.
  22. Fun list as always. I'm excited for Jenkins too, but I don't think a guy with 6 AA games is the top value in the system though. I don't think you get Lewis, Ober, Ryan or Lopez for Jenkins straight up. I think you have to add something to Jenkins. Maybe you get Ryan.
  23. I can't imagine the fires will get to the stadium in Inglewood, if it did, that probably means LAX is already burning down and that would be bigger news. But last I heard the fires were near Santa Monica and that's close enough. Obviously the air quality will be a big concern, but does LA really want traffic and planes associated with an NFL game clogging up that area? LA should be telling Goodell and Kronke they aren't catering to their greedy little mouths this week and they can take their silly little game somewhere else.
  24. Racism doesn't have to be overt to still be racism. I'm sure often the thought process goes something like, 'Well, we're in bad shape, it would be good PR AND we'd be doing a good deed if we hire the black candidate. Our roster is terrible so it doesn't really matter who we pick, let's throw the guy a bone.' Even if they think they are doing a good deed, they're still setting him up to fail and stain his resume, basically making the guy disposable.
