  1. Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr and Kirk Cousins are also likely join them. No studs, but way more capable long time starting QBs than normal. The 49ers are old as dirt. Honestly, I'd probably give one of those cheap veterans a shot while I try to find a long term elite passer since I don't think Purdy is much better than that group and definitely not worth locking in long term.
  2. Agreed. If you don't have a Jackson/Allen/Mahomes type who can win you a championship, don't tie yourself to a contract like that. Purdy is much closer to the unsexy free agent QBs like Darnold and Russell Wilson than he is to the upper echelon.
  3. Yeah, collusion is the issue. But I think Kraft is one of the few who are fine telling the rest of the league to screw off.
  4. If anyone has the balls to hire Flores, it will be Robert Kraft. But hope he hires Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn instead.
  5. Yeah, that's the market. I think SF is in for a long stretch of mediocrity. Purdy is fine, but unless he has stud players around him, he's not going to do a hell of a lot. He can't drag a team to the playoffs on his own like the top QBs are capable of doing.
  6. Hard to feel bad for him though, because he lucked into the decent situation he was in the prior two years. Before McDaniel got there, Tua was a 'bust' and the offense was terrible. Hill can lie all he wants about knowing things would turn around but he didn't, he took the top dollar and just happed to get lucky that McDaniel was able to turn the QB into a usable player.
  7. He's had practice. But last time he was 28, not 31.
  8. If the Twins can continue to manufacture these relievers, (and their strategy of drafting middling college starters, adding tons of velocity, then moving them to the pen seems to be working), they absolutely should be churning these guys out and flipping them for areas of need.
  9. I would suspect new owners will more than likely bring in a new person by at least year two. But I don't think the issue is that Falvey needs a high payroll blank check, the issue is that he was given a high(ish) payroll two years ago which he used to sign three big, long-term contracts (as one obviously would). Then the next year was told to go improve the team with negative dollars.
  10. This sounds suspicious. Don't these things usually take a year or more? Or is this like when someone leaks that dozens of clubs are calling about Brian Duensing hoping you get one club to bite?
  11. Right, combined Bezos and I are making 500B in revenue too. Things are looking pretty good....for one of us.
  12. Lot of that going around.
  13. Ryan Poles is suggesting the Bears could trade for a coach. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43323941/bears-look-all-avenues-find-new-coach I know people threw out this idea with Shanahan as the target earlier (terrible, awful, fit for Caleb Williams BTW), but seems like there may be steam here. My prediction would be Kevin Stefanski. Good coach, hindered by terrible ownership and terrible QB. The Browns would probably love to get out from under the remaining four years of his deal too. I don't want this though. There are very few exciting offensive minded HC options this year; mostly it's defensive guys. And obviously after the Eberflus mess and with them needing to develop Williams to his peak, the Bears will want an intriguing offensive guy. I think Stefanski might be an excellent fit. So I hope it doesn't happen.
  14. Where to even start? Probably best not to I suppose.
  15. Yeah, shocking that NFL teams aren't interested in him any more. Now he just seems petty and indignant that Brady got more credit than he did and delusional because he won't take any blame for the terrible rosters he constructed after Brady left.
  16. No, reports now are that Kraft picked Mayo to be the successor several years ago, Belichick didn't like that there was a succession plan and Belichick barely even talked to Mayo that final year they coached together.
  17. With the reported dissention between Kraft and Belichick, I don't know why they didn't want to clean house and start from scratch. Anyone tied to Belichick is going to constantly be compared to Belichick. Should have found a completely different group of leaders and a completely different style of football.
  18. True, but the teams that end up snagging the winning lotto tickets that debut at 18 or 19 years old and become super stars, often do it with these international guys. Beltre and De Los Santos from last year are fairly encouraging.
  19. Yeah, if the Twins were to trade for Correa, I think they'd have to give up more than Matthews. They wouldn't get Correa+ for Matthews. I guess the one argument to be made is that Correa's hypothetical landing spots are so much smaller as only about ten teams can afford him in today's game.
  20. I'm not going to go too far to defend billionaires, but I think the Wilfs did OK with that situation. Frazier did get three years and two of them were the two worst years for the Vikings in the 21st Century. Awful QBs for sure, but he was a defensive coach and they had the 32nd ranked defense in the league in his last year. I think a lot of clubs would have fired Frazier after his first season when they went 3-13, but he got two more years. Zimmer, yeah that went on too long, but he never won fewer than 7 games. It was a whole lot of average, but it was never terrible.
  21. I didn't read the article, but there was a long stretch there where they were just cannon fodder. The owners knew the team needed a rebuild so they hired a black coach, probably for the PR of it all, but knowing it was a one year gig until the team was back on it's feet and aimed for a bigger name.
  22. No idea if it will turn out to be the right move, but I respect John Mara a bit more for this. I LOVE that he didn't knee-jerk react to a bunch of armchair fans. Not saying the fans were wrong, but NY fans are insufferable and need to be told they don't run the world once in awhile. I might have split the difference though, keeping the HC and firing the GM.
  23. Kwesi might hit on two of those!
  24. Did he apply online? What I'm asking is, was he E-hired?
  25. I've been a skeptic all year. We as Vikings fans are very familiar with the short-term renaissance QB phenomena. Still, while I absolutely tag him, I'm still TBD about trading him. At least right away.
