  1. Both Yankees pitchers appear to have severe control issues. I know they are hitting prospect rankings, but that has the feel of hype caused by the over-exposure from being a Yankee/NY/East Coast prospect. And no one below AA please. Unless it’s an auxiliary piece of the trade.
  2. The Twins aren't going to be really good soon without hitting on prospects. No small to mid market team has ever gotten good solely through trades and free agents.
  3. The Twins moved Buxton in shallower three years ago with the intent being to keep him from crashing into the wall as often. Surely Keaschall is deeper because shallow reads are easier than deep reads for new outfielders, but that's probably only half of the reason for the discrepancy with Buxton.
  4. Yes, while live on air. I guess they have somebody who was leaking the firings and ESPN wanted to let him know before he read about it between ad breaks. So when they find out it's Adam Schefter who was doing the leaking, will they let him go too?
  5. I would rather call up Riley Quick to the majors than trade for Peralta. This franchise is in no position to be trading for expiring contracts. I guess I don't follow how we completely disregard how bad Peralta has been this year in favor or looking at his time in Milwaukee, and at the same time disregard the fact that Garcia has been a nobody his entire career and solely focus on his small sample 2026 season.
  6. I don't see any posters counting on any prospect. But if fans can't look at the prospects and see scenarios that brighten the future outlook, why the hell would we even bother following this club? Nobody is looking at the MLB squad and thinking it's got the potential to morph into a championship team.
  7. I actually think rebuilding a bullpen is fairly easy. It's just not quick. Going back to Glen Perkins, when the Twins move the fringy starters into the pen and give them a full season to get adjusted, they have an extremely high success rate; well over 50%. Much higher than they do with players at any other position. But instead of going that route again, they filled the pen with a bunch of cast offs from other teams, which hardly ever works for them. Sure, maybe a guy a season shines, but three bust. That's the lesson they need to learn. Bullpen = homegrown. If you don't think you can wait to grow a new one, don't trade what you have. If you're patient, then go ahead. But this team isn't patient.
  8. I'm all for moving the odd men out of the rotation to the bullpen, but if it's done in August, that pitcher is unlikely to successfully transition to the role this season. It's not a move that pays off overnight. It's typically a season long journey that should have been started in spring training.
  9. He has nothing to do with assembling a poorly planned 40-man roster full of poorly fitted pieces. The team has no identity. At all. Are they a club that relies on a deep and dynamic rotation? Shut down bullpen? Are they piranhas making trouble on the bases? A brick-wall defense? Are they a Bomba Squad? Maybe an on-base machine that never let's the pressure off of the other team's pitcher? Maybe a veteran squad grinding for that missing championship on their resume? Or a team full of young players with boundless energy and too naive to feel the pressure? This might be the most randomly constructed roster this franchise has ever had. They're just grabbing random parts and forcing the manger to plug them into atypical spots because it's the only option he has.
  10. Tom Pohlad is starting to make noise again about trades and payroll and being competitive, likely to the chagrin of the front office. After all the talk, if the Twins whiff on trading for someone that would actually open the fans' eyes, the only way to try to save face will be to call up the prospects.
  11. No platoons. Or at least as few as possible. I'm not sure why we'd want to mess with Lewis just to find at bats for Caratini. Having capable hitters on your bench is a good thing. And while I know Lewis isn't exactly universally beloved here, cutting his role when he's finally doing what we originally hoped he would do seems more spiteful than anything. And if people are done with him, that's fine too. An overall good hitting Lewis would make for a good trade chip come this winter. Way better than a Lewis who was platooned.
  12. My understanding was that the NFL's investigation was about the assault of the caterer. This civil suit about him sexually assaulting a man seems like it's new news to everyone in the industry. But NFL investigation or not, that's immaterial as to the reason I think clubs will blacklist him.
  13. In any case, I'm sure drafting Lackey changes the equation for the Twins. It 100% shouldn't because if any team knows not to count on top draft picks, it's this one. But I'm sure they're already penciling him into the 2028 roster.
  14. But are the players the Dodgers want to cut, the guys we actually want? Maybe they're be someone but generally I'd think then the Twins are spending money to keep up with the big clubs, but doing it on the players the big clubs were willing to give up on.
  15. Definitely concede to that point. Fair to add the caveat that if there's a young-ish fireball, strikeout artist who was just converted from a starter, I'd more likely be interested.
  16. I'm guessing Stefon Diggs' career is over? https://www.tmz.com/2026/07/14/stefon-diggs-male-sexual-assault-accuser-says-his-football-team-flew-him-out/ As it should be if anywhere remotely accurate. But I'd guess teams would blacklist him for the wrong reason.
  17. You can't buy a relief pitcher based on this year's or last year's modest inning inning total and try to sell yourself on the fact that his value lies in the fact that he still got years of control left. The Twins always do this, and it never works out. Target guys who have long track records with MULTIPLE teams. Otherwise you're most likely looking at a small sample size hero, like most of the relievers the Twins acquire. And that goes double for small sample size guys with command issues because if/when they blow up, they'll blow up twice as hard considering they give up free passes.
  18. After the elite pitchers, the free agent market looks absolutely dreadful next year. I typically wouldn't want to pay Jeffers OR Ryan beyond their likely productive years or for more than they'd get on the market, but if the Twins are forced to raise payroll, I'd rather have both players on ugly contracts, than a half dozen ugly players on team friendly contracts clogging up the roster.
  19. I'm not trading for Rays relievers. For the last decade, those relievers haven't tended to be good pitchers, the Rays have just figured out the best way to use them. I'd trust Joe Blow off of the waiver wire just as much as I'd trust a reliever on a contending team they're willing to trade.
  20. No way that three months of a recently injured Jeffers is worth more now than in March. I really think Twins fans are over-estimating his trade value. Every team in the league is smart enough not to trust an in-season hamate bone injury. Every team doctor is going to remind the GM that players do not regain full grip strength until the following season. Maybe you can get something like Henry Mendez in the Harrison Bader deal last year, but I don't think anyone should be surprised if it's closer to the underwhelming Willi Castro deal.
  21. Right, but two seasons ago it was seen as a steal for the Wolves. It only changed because KAT evolved his game, and that likely only happened because he got humbled last year. The Wolves tried for years to get him to play more physical and he just wouldn't. And he also only got better this year because they asked him to be more of a distributor and less of a scorer, but the Wolves couldn't ask the same of him because their other big man, Gobert, was already not a scorer. I actually don't care for the LaMelo Ball trade, but I also have to admit that it might stem from the fact that I find him and his family obnoxious and unbearable. This team hasn't had a good point guard in forever, so I'm happy to wait out judgment until a later time.
  22. Sorry, but I completely disagree. I don't recall anyone complaining about the lack of usage Jarvis Brown got. With an ideal roster, the Twins would have four bench guys who play infrequently. This isn't Little League, you WANT a team with nine players that don't need to be removed for pitching matchups, defensive liabilities or late inning baserunning. Now, no (mid-market) team will ever get there, but intentionally building a platoon lineup means you are intentionally fielding a roster of flawed players.
  23. I don't think the Twins will be getting all that much for three months of Jeffers And it sure sounds like the baseball community is very aware that players have significantly reduced hand strength the season they return from a broken hamate bone. Unless Jeffers comes out blasting a half dozen home runs in the next two weeks, I'm sure any suitor will be skeptical.
  24. An aggressive promotion for a guy with a 13% BB% does seem peculiar. But you're right, a promotion to be used as promotion to other teams does sound about right.
