  1. Looking at his stats, I don't see where the 'thump' is. I hope there's a clear off-ramp for this player come April. Outside of a half dozen injuries, I don't see how he'd make sense to put on the 40-man roster let alone the 26-man. I wish they'd stop swapping out fringe player for fringe player and just start sloughing off all of the fringe players.
  2. How bad are the TV profiteers sweating an Ole Miss v Indiana championship right now? Screw those guys, I hope that's exactly what happens.
  3. Makes me think that Houston believes there's a reasonable scenario where he ends up in the bullpen.
  4. Also, what happened with that pink cocaine video with Diggs from this preseason? Kind of forgot about that, and seems like everyone else did too. Did the league just decide to sweep that one under the rug?
  5. Wow, I missed that one! It was jokey but also uncomfortable and obviously very telling.
  6. I understand that idea, but what happens to these kids that aren't going to go to the NFL/NBA/MLB after they are done with this minor league stuff? 95% of them aren't going to the top leagues, and if they aren't going to the top leagues, they aren't going to get paid much in this new system. At least with this current system, these guys are given free college (it should all be free or at least easily affordable to everyone BTW) that they can use for their real professions.
  7. I would guess that Craig Leopold may have some kind of agreement to buy the team as he kind of sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the private equity groups. I don't think it makes a ton of sense for those groups to want a stake of this team past the point of flipping it for profit. Yet at the same time I don't know why local owner Craig Leopold would want to invest in this nutty situation unless there is a path for him to secure majority ownership later.
  8. My guess is that Jayden Maiava will be the one who starts rising up boards between now and draft day. Great size, quick release, great pocket presence and a great deep ball. You'll also never be able to stop him on a QB sneak from a yard out. In the past, I think it would have been Sam Leavitt and LaNorris Sellers, who will probably test really, really well athletically but will seem more like the Anthony Richardson and Trey Lance (gulp and JJ McCarthy) mold, of not enough college game reps to evaluate. I'd guess many teams are starting to be weary of that profile now. There might still be some that can't resist though.
  9. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/brian-flores-the-vikings-and-my-representation-are-handling-contract-talks “Like I just said, I love Minnesota,” Flores said. “I love this team. I love working for and with [O’Connell]. You know, he’s been fantastic to me. I think the Wilfs are some of the best owners in the league. I love these players, the coaching staff. And, like I said, this place has shown me a lot of love and I show it right back. And so I don’t know how much more there is to it. I mean, if everything lines up and it fits, you know, from a football standpoint, it fits. And I think there’s always — it’s called a business part of this. The football all lines up, and we’ll just see where it all goes.” I believe him when he says he likes the Vikings/Wilfs/Minnesota, by all accounts, this is a great place to be employed in the NFL. So it's kind of weird that there'd need to be so much dialogue. I wonder if there's something else unexpected or unheard of being requested by Flores' team. Obviously if he merely got extended as the DC then got a HC job the next day there's nothing the Vikings could or would do to prevent that, so that's not an issue. Does he want to be paid the equivalent of a head coach (probably best guess)? Does he want to be a co-head coach? Does he want more say in player personnel? Does he want someone specific fired or hired? Whatever he's asking for, that probably means another team has tampered and already offered it to him.
  10. Agree that the hit tool and getting on base in general are two of the best indicators that a young player will develop into a decent MLB player. The odds were way against so many of these types of players first shining bright, then crashing and burning. Someone else should have panned out just out of pure luck. That's why I'm hopeful that at least some part of the failure was with the coaching staff at the MLB level, which has now been replaced.
  11. I would guess there are some traits like completeness, impulsiveness, aggressiveness and anger at perceived slights that work well towards striving to be a good athlete but don't work well toward being a good human if you can't turn them off when you leave the field. I'd think 95% of these guys do turn that off, but the ones who don't are probably dangerous people.
  12. That guy has to have mental health issues. Diggs' attorney is attempting to seal the details and Diggs already attempted to keep the victim quite by paying her/him off. That sounds like it's probably going to be way worse than what we're hearing at surface level. Which is already terrible.
  13. Knock on wood we have a few keepers from this list. But also, while with the Pirates Derek Shelton platooned and pinch-hit significantly less than Rocco Baldelli did, so maybe some of these lefties will get a chance to develop into useful hitters against same-handed pitching as well.
  14. As good as Seattle has looked, I'd still guess both the Eagles and Bears would prefer them over the Rams in the 1st round. Since I want both the Bears and Eagles to lose, I endorse this mini slump by the Rams so they can knock one of those teams out early. And yes, that does mean I presume SF will beat Seattle at home to win the #1 seed.
  15. Mike Zimmer and Brad Childress coached here a combined 12 years. Thankfully the Wilfs don't seem to care about Minnesota Nice in their HC. Unlike other Minnesota clubs who seem to think a sweetie pie teddy bear equals fan-service. Not that I WANT an un-nice HC, but if he's good at his job and the players buy into his system, that absolutely won't disqualify him in my book.
  16. Yeah, I don't understand the anger with half the posts in this thread. Even if it WERE just lip service, or PR, or blow-hard nonsense, at worst, we're just in the same sinking boat, not a different, even more sinking boat. Did anyone actually want Joe to continue to run the team? Unless someone did, the vitriol seems misplaced. But at the very, very minimum, we at least now are getting to watch Succession level Pohlad on Pohlad crime. I don't know how everybody who dislikes the Pohlad's (which very well may be EVERYBODY) isn't Schadenfreud-ing up this infighting and backstabbing. "Tom's lying to us!" So? What else is new? He also just kicked his kid brother in the nuts and took away his most prized possession. Yeah, that's new and probably the most enjoyable thing I've seen this club do since 2023; I'll happily watch more of this.
  17. As far as the standings go, we all know Dan Campbell will try to win, but GB will have nothing to play for two weeks in a row and the Vikings think a 9-8 record is a good thing. Very possible all three teams end up with 9 wins.
  18. But what if your meaningless win costs you meaningful wins. Like what will happen if they play the third place schedule vs the fourth place schedule next year.
  19. So….. Flores gets the Vikings HC job? This defense is impressive
  20. Depending on if you file your business returns on a fiscal year or calendar year and if you file an extension, you can amend your K1s to adjust loss percentage pretty much any time of the year. I presume the Pohlad real estate and auto dealership losses held by Minnesota Twins LLC were amended as part of negotiations with the new investors.
  21. Trying to think of who, but we’ve seen that a few times. Players giving a list of teams they’ll accept a trade to.
  22. It is a pipe dream, and for sure won’t happen. But Burrow’s currant makes it more likely, as it will allow him to call the shots. The theory isn’t that the Bengals will willingly do so, he’s only traded if he demands to get traded, and he won’t be demanding to be traded to the Jets.
  23. New OL coach is my top priority next year. Aside from miracle QB solution of course. Pittsburg OL was also hobbled but looked great. If backup O linemen were as good as starters, they would be on another team. Other coaches know how to deal with backups. At this point I’ll be good with trying a better OL coach. If it turns out it’s a KOC problem, that’s grounds for termination. You’ll always be using backup OL.
  24. I’m on board with the Justin Jefferson should be tampering with Joe Borrow position. Vikings always top two in NFLPA player satisfaction, great facilities, good defense, vs bottom rankings for the bengals.
  25. Probably can’t even attempt to chameleon until you have a functional OLine though. Functional pass blocking AND run blocking.
