  1. Then the logjam is the non-good players. And they can start DFA'ing them any time now as far as I'm concerned.
  2. I don't think you were wrong about Larnach, but I don't think the opposite side was wrong either. I don't think anyone argued that Larnach was bad, just that this kind of player is redundant and other clubs aren't interested. Larnach is a decent player but at the same time, he also clearly has next to no trade value. A rental reliever? and the OTHER owner pulled the plug?
  3. They haven't been over .500 since what, May? They haven't played their way into contention, other teams have simply played their way out. This is not a championship caliber team, they need to start taking steps and focusing on what can be a championship caliber team next year. That means getting the higher ceiling young players ready to play and contribute next year.
  4. Yeah, I am/was on board with selling high. But if 'high' is a rental reliever, pass.
  5. The Twins should definitely look to trade Larnach this winter, but I don't get why HE specifically is the logjam. Bell, Gray and Kreidler are also not long term pieces and unlike Larnach, are not hitting well. You could easily add Martin and Roden to that list as well.
  6. I was good standing pat, giving the reps to the young relievers and hitters and going all in for 2027, but that's not a popular take so I get why they felt they had to make moves. But it kind of feels like they were making moves as fan service. Fans were talking about the bullpen so that's what they went at, but the bullpen had started to come into it's own after a half season of tinkering and it seemed more than clear that Ryan was hitting the wall, Ober hit the wall 18 months ago and the young starters were probably close to their inning totals anyway. This team TALKED about spending money, and sure, 8M is nothing to sneeze at, but it's still only a quarter of what they cut last off season, so the team still took a discount there. If they'd truly wanted to put their money where their mouth was, shouldn't they have gone after one if not two of Gausman, Peralta, Ray, May or Holmes instead of Kremer? These guys went for virtually no player equity.
  7. Seems fairly similar to the Purdy/Lance situation. Maybe you get a 4th for JJ? But the coaches, GM and players would most likely see not having a (below average) QB controversy as more valuable than the draft pick.
  8. I didn't care for the player but I agreed with the pick as I felt they had to finally take a shot at a QB. And originally I thought the odds were still good that McCarthy could turn into a good QB for the Vikings. I just hate that this team can't/won't do what it takes to shoot for one of the best QBs in the draft. I know they tried to trade up for Maye, so I suppose I should give them the benefit of the doubt that adding more to the offer still wouldn't have worked, but I don't know. Adding Addison to the deal? Adding another 1st? Of course with this looking to be another average Vikings team, they'll still likely be looking at the 4th/5th/6th best QB in this next draft class if they stay in their draft position.
  9. I bet he's traded before the season starts. If KOC and the Vikings know he's bad and worse than Murray, they will not want him looming on the sidelines for the fans and media to speculate about every time Murray has a rough day.
  10. That sounds pretty good to me. Two years to find a replacement for what would be a 33-year-old RT. It would be great if that guy is already on the roster in Tiernan.
  11. Healthy, not sure about good. I just think the ceiling is so low. And that's my real frustration with this move. Because if the Twins have/will spend some amount of money next year, I really only want them to use it to get a legit middle of the order bat, not a Josh Bell or Carlos Santana, but someone who real contenders would want to use in the middle of the order (and that seems very unlikely) OR to get another top of the rotation arm. Like they did with Lopez, Gray, Maeda and Odorizzi. That does NOT sound unlikely as the Twins have done this many times. So that rotation would be looking at Ryan, New Guy, Lopez, Bradley and ..... Kremer? Hell no. I don't even want him as an option. They have to at least leave one spot for a higher ceiling arm who could can develop into a Ryan/Lopez when they're gone the following year. Abel, Rojas, Prielipp, out of the equation again?
  12. Have you read the responses? Or ever visited this site? There are like three claps in a mob of boos. Ownership most definitely has not 'conditioned' the fan base unless they conditioned the fan base to despise ownership with the fury of a thousand suns. And considering I was a negative nancy about the situation, yeah, for sure any conditioning has been to repudiate everything they do. Even when the repudiation is uncalled for.
  13. I know you're absolutely not a Pohlad mouthpiece, as I vividly remember your series on their bungling of their business assets and how they were using that as an excuse to kill the Twins payroll and pin the losses on potential new buyers. But I agree with others, they aren't getting any benefit of the doubt in regards to payroll until they are back to above middle of the pack. When Tom Pohlad came out this winter and said they were going to compete after dropping payroll by 30M it sounded hollow then, and adding back merely 25% of what they cut (and 15% of what they've cut since 2023) now seems like a calculated incremental increase to see what fans will accept in exchange for buying tickets. Now, instead of adding Dean Kremer (ugh, barf) the Twins had added Gausman and Ray and took on their salaries, then I'd be open to the idea that this was more than lip service.
  14. He's better than just about every one of his peers. He can and is hitting well, he's working counts at an elite level, he is a good defender, he has speed, he just doesn't have power. I want the power too, but that's not all MLB players have power and if you sit on him until it shows up when he's 26 then you're just wasting time.
  15. Are you looking at stats or just making presumptions? Because Jenkins has a 15% K rate and 14% BB rate. I'd dare you to find five other players that can top those numbers. That's top end plate approach and those are the two areas that basically hold a player back or ensure a promotion. I'll be disappointed if the power doesn't come, but he should probably be batting leadoff for the Twins as of about a month ago.
  16. Then you’d never call up a rookie. I think they need to prioritize having them as prepared as possible for 2027, that would mean getting accustomed to the MLB now.
  17. Yes, credit to them for that.
  18. I don't buy into Jackson either, but he's the better glove and Caratini's bat isn't so good that it would make a huge difference to me. Tempting a team to take his contract for next year would heavily tilt the scales for me.
  19. Am I the only one who'd rather have Jackson? I know Caratini had a nice burst there for awhile, but I just don't see the draw offensively or defensively.
  20. I'm not so sure about that, I know he's gained a following, but I don't think he's so much better than what floats around on the waiver wire that his salary wouldn't be a consideration. Either way, they can have him for all I care. He's average at best and this team has zero business carrying three catchers.
  21. It's wild they went into the year with a poorly planned offensive roster and it's now somehow ever worse. Caratini and his salary probably gets through waivers though. Maybe they can still trade him if they eat some salary. That's a thing still right? The post deadline waiver dump trades?
  22. What does this mean for carrying three catchers? Did the front office forget they had three on the 26-man?
  23. I would have never stopped doing what was working before. Trading for good and controllable Lopez, Gray, Maeda, Odorizzi types. Easily a better bet than counting on prospects and a better value than shopping for third and fourth tier free agents. That is without doubt what I want them to do this offseason.
