  1. While I’d love to believe Jenkins or E-Rod are the replacements, it will almost certainly be Outman and Martin.
  2. But the fact he didn’t even wait for the manager or trainer suggests it’s not good.
  3. Buxton goes right to the dugout after the HBP? Can’t be good.
  4. I'm not saying people shouldn't be excited about him, I'm saying he's too far away and nowhere near projectable enough for the team to be making decisions with the presumption that he'll be their long term starting catcher.
  5. Man, Gladden isn't great at killing time. "You know, I used to stand in the locker room and just watch Hrbek get dressed......" Not sure how that sentence ended as I couldn't hear over the sound of me laughing.
  6. I have no current opinion about who the Twins should draft, but they better not be making that decision based off of a guy in A+ ball who didn't hit OR get on base particularly well at that level.
  7. Well if there's one thing the Twins don't have enough of, it's 28-year-old AAAA players. He was DFA'd by the Rays last November. I'm wondering what it was that he's done since then that the Twins didn't ask for him to be included in the Bradley/Jax deal; obviously TB would have handed him over.
  8. Yeah, but the Twins have so much long term talent at 1B already.........🙄
  9. I was skeptical, I thought three years as a starter was long enough to make a decision on him. Control has to tighten up but so far so good and I'm looking forward to be proven wrong.
  10. Yes. This site is woefully unprepared for chaotic events. If Joe Benson were ever to be DFA’d the backlash would currently be unmanageable.
  11. Griffin Jax, hands down. I have a feeling he’s going to epically implode.
  12. Sorry, I get the premise, but disagree about the villain. Jenkins is the boss, not Boras. If Jenkins wants an early deal, that is literally what Boras is paid to do. Now, the reasons that Jenkins picked Boras may be the same reasons that Jenkins wouldn’t want an early deal; such as great self confidence, willingness to bet on himself, AND the fact that Jenkins was a top five pick, unlike the other two players. But sadly, no deal is likely, but that’s mostly on the Twins. Their only priority is to sell the team and get the buyer to take the phony 500M in debt they tacked on. They haven’t given anyone a multi year deal in two years, that’s by design. They want as little committed debt tied to this lemon of an organization as possible.
  13. That’s the way their gambling partners want it. An informed population is better equipped to guard their money from being taking by the wealthy.
  14. Ha, screw the Eagles!
  15. Right. If they later replace him with Culpepper that’s one thing, but what’s the point in replacing him with someone who won’t/shouldn’t be on the team next year?
  16. Only surface level info had been available to casual consumers for years. I'm beyond exasperated with every known company cutting content while jacking up prices to squeeze every dime out of every person they can. Hopefully my kids and their kids can put this world back on track someday. Hopefully non-violently.
  17. I thought this was specifically what Wild owner Leopold was brought in for. I suppose it's possible advertisers were already locked in and marketing strategies had already been paid for so it was too short notice to Wild-up the Twins. That sounds unlikely though.
  18. Downtown Minneapolis is still a great time. Without going too far off the rails, I will say that the Pohlad's have always supported the kinds of news agencies that are TELLLING people that downtown Minneapolis is a dangerous war zone. So if they were counting on that demographic to show up, that's on the Pohlad's for turning them away.
  19. Yeah, likely a long and laborious fix; if that's possible at all. You're right. and when the Twins do the things to be the 'entertainment' it comes off as desperate and pandering. I don't think every other ballpark feels the need to have some kind of contest or interactive activity going on between each half inning. Seems this stuff would be aimed at the people who would be staring at their phones only half paying attention anyway. Like you suggest, those people probably aren't there to have fun. So why is that the crowd the Twins are drawing in? Is it the crowd they are TRYING to draw in? Ever since I can remember, the Twins marketing has always felt quaint and folksy and inoffensive. And outside of action-themed toys for boys and extra caffeinated soda, that seemed to be the style of advertising for every product, at least until the early 1990s. I hear or see Twins marketing now and it still feels like it's from that era. Like they're selling bran flakes to grandpa or dish soap to mom (I'm not misogynistic, dish soap used to ALWAYS be marketed to moms). It all sounds like it's aimed at a geographical demographic that's nearly irrelevant to the North Loop of Minneapolis, and an age group that is older than me. And at 46, I'll be the first to admit that I couldn't tell you what passes for edgy and cool these days. It's almost certainly not using the words 'edgy' and 'cool'.
  20. My perception might be way off on this, but when I've been in Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, Seattle or San Francisco, it felt like it was still a cool event to go to a ballgame. Maybe I'm too far into the forest to see the trees here, but I often get the vibe that the Twins are for grandparents. But I've also gotten that vibe in Kansas City, Tampa and Miami, and those places struggle with attendance too. And if that's the case, that's got to be at least partly attributed to chronic marketing and messaging mistakes. The same demographics of fans that follow the Cubs through sun or rain should be following the Twins, but I almost think they don't.
  21. I presumed that’s what the new owners wanted. Not wins, rings or shiny things, just more interest and more attendance and more viewers. Yet I don’t see any implemented changes outside of re-using that disingenuousness $2 beer promotion from a decade ago. News flash Tom, the only people who that promotion would work on are the same people who are still complaining about getting conned by it ten years ago. Oh, and, it seems 22-year-olds don’t drink beer any longer anyway.
  22. I see on MLBTR this morning that two minor league prospects have signed or are about to sign large extensions. Colt Emerson, a shortstop drafted out of high school in 2023, the same draft as Walker Jenkins, has signed an 8 year 95M deal with a 9th year club option. As far as prospect rankings go, he's about even with Jenkins. The more surprising extension is Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt. He was drafted in the same year but in the 6th round. Surprisingly (to me) his prospect rankings are in the middle of the top 100 lists, but his bat looks very questionable. Like Noah Miller/Marek Houston questionable. The young man hasn't hit a lick since advancing from Low A ball. He's getting an 8 year 50.75M deal with two club options. I suppose that one probably wouldn't be all that large, but it is surprising as he appears to likely be a glove only player. In any case, it appears the season is ripe for prospect extensions. One might think Jenkins and Kaelen Culpepper in particular may be targets for the Twins, but I have the feeling the Twins entire operation is taking everything year to year while they prioritize selling the team with the 500M real estate debt attached to the sale. I'm guessing long range player outlooks aren't being considered and long term debt tied to those contracts is probably the opposite of what they want to do at the moment.
  23. Yeah, O'Niell is already 30. Jefferson and Darrisaw will be 28 come 2027, which is the earliest this team will be able to find a franchise QB. What other 'cornerstone' type players are on the roster that could be part of any kind of future contender? Dallas Turner? Donovan Jackson who hasn't proven anything? There's not enough guys to keep the light on for. They absolutely should be picking the best player available, or at least the guy who has the best shot at being a fixture for a contending team, which is going to be several years out no matter what they do, When you draft so poorly the entire roster will nearly age out before they can be contenders, it might be time to rip the whole thing down.
