  1. I couldn’t watch but keep seeing this yet I can’t find this offer. What was it?
  2. That experiment is over. A DFA'd corner bat with no power and no on base skills wasn't a popular signing, but it is encouraging they cut bait despite giving up and actual real-life AA pitcher to get him. They have tried to squeeze all the juice out of these kinds of moves in the past. Replacing him is new pitcher Christian Roa pictured here: Sorry, check that. This is a photo of the extinct flightless bird the Moa, which was known for it's pinpoint command. Roa on the other hand appears to significantly struggle hitting the zone. But he does bring the heat which the current bullpen is lacking.
  3. Going to a comedy show with the wife so I'll miss most of the draft. So I better get my predictions down now. I think the draft gurus are under-estimating the risk tolerance of a typical NFL GM. Because of this, I think Ruben Bain and his very concerning arm-length falls. Not out of the 1st round, but beyond the halfway point. Similarly, Jermod McCoy not only falls out of the 1st round, he falls to the 3rd. He didn't play at all last year and at best he misses half of 2026, but most likely all of 2026? I don't think many GMs are going to use a 2nd on a guy who you likely only get for three seasons. Not to mention, a guy who will not have played in two years by the time he likely steps back on the field. And you know what, I've talked myself into believing what I posted in the Vikings thread. If the Vikings stay at 18, they're picking OT. It's crazy how little consensus there is about the top guy, but pretty much everyone has at least five of them as 1st round players. I think Mauigoa is gone as he's always ranked as either 1 or 2, but I've seen various 1st round grades and predictions on the two Utah players Fano and Lomu along with Proctor, Freeling, Miller, Iheanachor.
  4. I wouldn't say no, but I'd be really leery of the huge expectations the fans will have. There have actually only been nine HOF pitchers taken in the first round of the draft. Ever. And that includes not-yet HOFers Verlander, Scherzer, Kershaw and ??Greinke?? Obviously there is an acceptable range between HOF and disappointment however. The disappointment category is intimidating though. The #3 overall pick in particular. Posting just for fun and not to rain on any parades as Flora sounds like where I'd currently lean as well.
  5. Is there any chance the Raiders are secretly preparing to trade the #1 pick to the Jets when they get on the clock? Maybe it's just because this is such a low-key draft, but to me it's starting to feel TOO quiet. Like someone is waiting to drop the biggest off season talker at the right time just to get buzz going.
  6. I completely agree. OT is supposed to be a strength of this team, but it's not since they never seem to be on the field together. And this organization hardly plays rookies (yeah, most have been bad) but between injuries and Darrisaw's atypical need for rest, a rookie at that position would almost certainly play. And even without a new OT, I'm not sure this team should be giving O'Neill another contract.
  7. The Vikings have to lose some salary somewhere. All the talk has been about Greenard, but maybe they're instead thinking of moving O'Neill? Looks like he hardly has any cap hit (not an expert at interpreting this stuff), he's on the wrong side of 30, and most mocks have one of the top OTs still available at 18. And if they did plan on replacing him in the draft, maybe they're waiting to make sure one of the guys they like is there.
  8. I think team-to-team is the wrong comparisons. The Twins only have 16 players on their 40-man roster that they themselves drafted and developed. Striking through developed because that's an arbitrary term considering the situation. Ober, Jeffers and Buxton probably only count by most definitions of the word; maybe throw in Larnach. Bottom line, yeah, the Twins are terrible at developing international players. But they're also terrible at developing non-international players.
  9. If the University of Alabama only recruited players from Alabama, they'd never win a champoinship. If you're not using all avenues to find talent, in college football, professional baseball or hiring at H&R Block, then all you're doing is letting the competition have first dibs on huge swaths of potential. Diversity is good. This is fact, not opinion.
  10. Pags and Leius were the only platoon players in 1991. Gardenhire's teams typically had a set lineup outside of one of the corner outfield positions. Same with Molitor and even the same with the Bomba Squad in Baldelli's first season. Then Covid and the utter decimation of the long-ball lineup and this organization completely changed course. And not for the better. And Kepler absolutely COULD NOT hit left handed pitching his first three years. What changed? Almost certainly it was seeing all of that left handed pitching early in his career. The left handed hitters under Baldelli never got the opportunities Kepler got under Molitor. I'm advocating for the Twins to either let the young hitters get full opportunity against same handed pitching, or trade them and give someone else that opportunity. I don't care if it's Wallner or Martin (but, obviously Martin). Better yet, call up Emanuel Rodriguez. Or of course in the offseason, go for option B and actually pay good free agents. But this franchise isn't winning lately and it's because they are more focused on piecing together 'matchups' instead of putting together a roster of well rounded players. It's inefficient, it's clearly ineffective and most of all, it's boring as hell.
  11. So far it appears the most pitches in a game for Prielipp is 77. I'm hoping they at least let him throw 80 if things are going well, and honestly, I'd probably let him throw at least 60 even if things aren't going well.
  12. I really can't stand the constant platooning. The Twins best lineups through history are the ones you could fairly accurately predict before the lineup cards were released. And honestly, watching my team was more fun then too. The Twins think they've found a hack for putting the most competitive roster on the field, but they haven't. They found a hack for putting the most thrifty roster on the field. We don't need a player who has a .800 OPS, we just need two players who can put up a .750 OPS against each handed pitcher. Such an inefficient use of limited roster space. Your best team is a lineup where seven or eight guys play EVERYDAY and against EVERY PITCHER and saving your bench players for late game substitutions and the occasional rest days.
  13. *********Moderator Note*********** This thread has become too filled with personal attacks, and yes, it's largely due to a few shockingly tone deaf posts. A) The tone deaf posts need to stop and B) Responding to them with personal attacks isn't how we do things at Twins Daily.
  14. For sure, and looking back, I do see some prognosticators had high hopes for Nussmeier, but I still think it was due to a lack of a clear QB1 in the class. Some guys had to be there by default and he looked like one of the top options.
  15. Yeah, much better year. Skattebo is another bruiser and not a burner type too though. And he also had pass protection issues. At least in college. But now the Giants have two top ten picks and there's lots of speculation they could pick Love. Skattebo would likely be fairly cheap in terms of draft capital if the Giants do a RB upgrade and the Vikings want Skattebo.
  16. Going way down the list, I see Kaelon Black also has good reports about pass protection. And they actually did bring him in for a visit. Same with Coleman, Emmett Johnson, Demond Claiborne and Seth McGowan. But he's also a bruiser type. And not terribly high on many prospect lists. I don't know what I want here. Maybe it would be better to find a more explosive guy and hope the blocking is good enough that KOC will use him. I guess I'll just agree to like whomever they draft. And they will draft one. I just heard a stat that teams that have used at least three top 30 visits on RBs have drafted a RB in the first 4 rounds 91% of the time, and the Vikings had 5 RBs for top 30 visits.
  17. I'm sure there are, and the round you were drafted in and whether you're a starter, probably start to lose correlation around year two in the league. But to me it feels like there are a lot of guys that will be going in the 1st round this year that wouldn't have been going in the 1st round other years. I don't remember a year where there were this few DL and Edge players I was interested in early. Same with WR. And obviously QB.
  18. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-garrett-nussmeier-had-cyst-on-spine-during-2025-season So Garrett Nussmeier has a cyst on his spine that was impacting him last season? Sounds like it's not serious and can easily be rectified. But to me this feels like draft propaganda to raise his draft stock. The guy played at LSU, not some DIII school. If he was feeling "stabbing pain" while throwing the ball, LSU would have had the resources to diagnose this themselves. Unless someone buys the story and drafts him early, I'm predicting he goes to Kyle Shanahan in the 5th round. Non-improvisational pocket passer who runs the plays only as called. He's the SF type.
  19. Even if the files are still there, they will CLAIM they were falsified if/when they get out.
  20. I'd argue they picked the wrong THREE starters as I'd think Matthews, Festa (injured) and Klien should be the first starters moved to the pen over Rojas, Morris and Prielipp. BUT, it's most definitely not a waste of resources. Good late inning relievers are worth more than back of the rotation starters. I can't imagine you'd try to argue the Twins could have gotten more for SWR or Ober than they got for Duran, Jax or Varland last year. Even so, I'd guess in this case we haven't seen the last of Rojas and Prielipp in the rotation. Use these guys while you have them. Pitchers have a finite number of throws in their arms, so don't waste them in AAA. And it's not like this franchise is going to break the bank giving long term extensions to the most injury prone position in all of professional sports.
  21. Might not be a full-time spot every year, but could be a full-time spot at different positions depending on need each year. He's showing more pop the last two years than I expected. On the flip side, how did we all not see the poor on-base skills coming? Outside of a half season in AA, he never really did show a knack for drawing walks. Should have been the BIGGEST red flag for him. However, if his bat would even out, I could see him similar to Eduardo Escobar, and that's obviously a good player. But, might want to sell high on that too if it ever comes to fruition, because the lack of on-base skills really does seem to be the biggest indicator of inconsistent production.
  22. I really dislike this draft class, I count 16 players I like. They can trade back, but if they do, I'm almost certain to yawn at the pick. The only guys I seem drawn to as late 1st or 2nd round picks are the linebackers. Hill, Allen and Rodriguez. And Funny, the robot gave Hill the lowest grade on Levi's mock. And Hill is supposed to be a good blitzer and good in coverage, he's the one of those three I like the best and best fit for Flores.
  23. I'm confused how Jonathan Greenard's down season didn't look like a 1st team AP season compared to Lawrence's down season. Lawrence was almost non-existent last season. Is Joey Schoen, the much maligned Giants GM, actually good at his job?
  24. I vote Yea. But I also want Matthews and Klein as one inning guys in the pen to try to fix the high contact issues. Festa joins them if/when healthy.
