  1. Yeah, O'Niell is already 30. Jefferson and Darrisaw will be 28 come 2027, which is the earliest this team will be able to find a franchise QB. What other 'cornerstone' type players are on the roster that could be part of any kind of future contender? Dallas Turner? Donovan Jackson who hasn't proven anything? There's not enough guys to keep the light on for. They absolutely should be picking the best player available, or at least the guy who has the best shot at being a fixture for a contending team, which is going to be several years out no matter what they do, When you draft so poorly the entire roster will nearly age out before they can be contenders, it might be time to rip the whole thing down.
  2. Eh, no one will care by the time school is out. And no one caring is exactly what the Pohlads deserve.
  3. Crazy how they figured out how to maximize an offensive roster when the ball was juiced and since then they have been utterly hopeless. The other teams figured out how to adapt and build a different kind of lineup but not our Twins.
  4. Wallner actually had reverse splits last year (well basically even splits). Baldelli didn't seem to notice until Bader was traded though.
  5. That was the least enthused I have ever heard Dan Gladden announce an inning ending double play. Even he's bored with this club?
  6. To put me in the optimistic category, the projections are going to need to be 95+ wins. Even before this optimism tank job, I was done with empty playoff appearances long, long ago. I'm only interested in competing for championships. And I'm not doom and gloom because I do believe that if the team puts in the effort, they can put themselves in position to compete as soon as 2027, but thus far, based on free agency, payroll and the absolute disregard for roster construction, I don't see them currently putting in any effort.
  7. I'd like to be excited about Smith, but I'd like to hear reports about where his velocity is now sitting. We've seen several of these situations, including with Liam Hendricks, were guys coming off of serious injuries were having 'nice' spring trainings that were masking significant physical concerns. It's not as though Washington is in position to be turning away good relief pitchers.
  8. This defensive 'sacrifice' would make more sense if the Twin's free agent bats they added were legit #3 or #4 hitters. Since last July's big roster sell off, I don't think I've seen a move this club has made, on or off the field. that indicated there is a long term game plan. They seem to be winging it, making random decisions seemingly with no more depth of thought beyond, 'I'm bored today, let's do something.'
  9. So is Puka Nacua restarting that old stereotype about knucklehead WRs that can't stay out of trouble? He should be in line for Jaxon Smith Njigba style extension, but the fact that the Rams, a seemingly very smart franchise, didn't beat Seattle to the punch in doing one, makes me think they might be hesitating to give him a big long-term deal.
  10. If in 2019 I were to have made a list of players I never thought would still be in the majors on their 35th birthday, Perez would have topped the list. I still might be right, looks like his birthday is Saturday. Good luck on your Tuesday start Martin!
  11. Ha, posting on mobile is most definitely a struggle for me!
  12. Yeah, he still has the talent to turn things around. I’ve still got high hopes for him. Hope this is just the beginning of a coming out party.
  13. The only ones worse are Gray, Outman and currently Lewis. And I might be selling Gray short in this comparison.
  14. Gray making the roster instead of Arcia being added makes me think this is possible. Still unlikely, but possible.
  15. Great start, but disagree about pulling Jenkins. With the MLB team’s penchant for platooning all young left handed hitters, I’d vote for Jenkins to face as many left handed pitchers as possible in AAA. Off days come against righties. He pinch hits against left handed relievers. He LEADS OFF against left handed starters. This roster destroying platoon nonsense has to stop, but it might take sacrificing AAA production and wins to do so.
  16. They’ll probably put the ‘fun’ roster together after all these AAAA vets lose enough for fans to tune out. Seems the smart move would have been to have the fun roster up when the team was still in contention, you know, early in the year.
  17. Clemens and his career .283 OBP leading off. Fun! I guess we’re done with that analytic stuff. I know Danny Gladden struggled to get on base back in the day, but that was when you measured lead off hitters by stolen bases. What is the qualifying stat now? Cy Young awards by your father?
  18. Reading the infield right to left, the pattern would suggest Lewis. But I didn’t watch the commercial
  19. Just checked. I would have lost this bet but Dr. Demento still HAS a love for the musical stylings of Rick Astley. He’s still with us.
  20. So ABS purposefully is slow right? Because it could be instantly relayed to the umpire. But if it was then it would be hard to justify the challenge system instead of it being used for every pitch.
  21. Looks like it's going to be mid 70s in Baltimore today. None of those cold weather/slow starts excuses today!
  22. Without trying to diminish how poorly the Pohlad's have run this franchise the last decade, 2017 was the year the Chargers moved to LA leaving the Padres the only pro sports team in town. A town which has a metro population of 3.3M. So to be fair to the valuation, the Twins didn't have the same opportunity. But to be extra fair, had the Vikings, Wolves and Wild all moved out, we all know the Pohlad's wouldn't have played at the top of the food chain to flip Minnesota into a baseball state like the Padres did.
