  1. Connor McGovern is being released as was Tyler Biadasz a couple days ago. They join Tyler Linderbaum, Cade Mayes and Lloyd Cushenberry as a fairly impressive free agent center group. There are several others too that have a long history at the position. I was and still am looking at centers in the draft, but if you can get one of these guys fairly cheap in free agency, that might be the way to go. Linderbaum will break someone's bank, but a decent chance at least someone will be left without an offer they were expecting.
  2. Ha, you’ll be happy to hear their OC was Drew Petzig, who now is the Lions new OC. Good luck!
  3. You just said you didn’t want to chase 9 win seasons but you’re advocating for a very good backup QB. Thats about as middle of the road as you get. The boom or bust Murray either hits his potential (probably not) or makes it clear it’s time to hit reset. If the Vikings trade JJ this year, then I don’t care who the QB is because we know change is coming in 2027. But if he’s still here, the top priority needs to be to force them to go all in to address the position in 2027. Good chance they won’t be ‘forced’ to do that if JJ gets to play and plays like Bryce Young. Use Murray like other teams have used Russell Wilson. Too big of a name to let your crappy alternative option play, then as expected it doesn’t work out, the pressure to draft a QB or sign or trade for a big name QB will be unavoidable.
  4. On a one year, league minimum deal, how? Giving McCarthy a chance to be just-good-enough could set you up for long term disaster.
  5. But again, they were only better offensively in the second half, largely when the other team was more concerned with running the clock than they were preventing competitions. And as a mostly career backup, the temptation to go back to McCarthy would be immense.
  6. Don't waste a fourth season trying to make Bradley work in the rotation. Put him in the pen where he has a chance to turn into a late inning monster. Stop kicking the can on this, and let's start making progress on the roster for the long term.
  7. Really, the one thing about Murray that I like, is that he'll 100% for sure start the season as QB1. I know others have suggested that they'd rather see JJ start than go with the Mariota, Brissett, Garoppolo, Flacco, Wentz kind of guys. And I agree, JJ would have a decent shot to keep his job. And I don't want him to. From my view, the absolute worst outcome is if JJ is better than last year, but not elite. And it seems to me those are like 95% odds. ANY improvement is going to be met with optimism after what we saw last year. But if he's looking like CJ Stroud, Bryce Young or even Jordan Love, there's a significant chance the Vikings ride with him longer, and that level of QB play isn't anywhere near satisfactory enough. Don't give him a chance to be just average enough to put you in QB purgatory.
  8. Good for him. Leave while your still healthy and wealthy. And screw the Bears.
  9. They sat him so he didn't get injured for 2026 and lock in his contract. I like Brissett, but as a backup. The Cardinals went 1-11 when he started and those players only surged because they were garbage offensively in the 1st half and then were slinging garbage time passes for the last quarter and a half. As someone who had a vested interest in Trey McBride, he was sitting at about four fantasy points going into the fourth quarter just about every week, then scored a dozen in the last ten minutes. And I don't think there's much luster with Murray. The other options are luster-less too though.
  10. Good stuff. I like Chanel, but I might rather bring Wilson back. He was team MVP last year as far as I was concerned. I know he's older, but I presume that makes him less expensive. I like the Gilman signing. Though I was starting to get excited about some of the early round safeties as well. If I was going to take a RB for pass blocking, I'd rather go for Rachaad White. He's a good pass catcher too. I don't think a TE can be used to his most effectiveness in this offense, so I wouldn't worry about losing Hockinson either. I might be eyeing David Njoku as a replacement. Lee Hunter's measurables sounded brutal. I wouldn't be surprised if he's now a day 3 pick. Maybe late day 3. Since you and Vanimal both had Slaughter and Lance in your pick projections, I'm going to guess they both go higher than listed. Lance's combine workout in particular was an all-timer, I'll guess 3rd round now; maybe 2nd. I like both though.
  11. If given the opportunity, I'd have the Vikings trade their 2026 1st for a 1st next year.
  12. I actually don't hate a cheap Murray move, only because it would presumably be a short-term bridge situation. I'd really like to have the option of this team having a mobile QB, and this would be a good test case to see if KOC can and is willing to let a guy improvise. I mean all of the other options are awful anyway. Presuming there's no Allen/Burrow/Jackson scenario, there's nobody they're going to get that we're going to be happy with.
  13. I'm calling dirty pool on this one. I've never heard of a 'degenerative ACL' so I Googled it. It's rare, almost exclusively found in older adults and is actually called Mucoid Degeneration. It appears the treatment is minor arthroscopic surgery to trim some growth from the ligament. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10787846/ I'd guess some team that wants him is trying to scare others away by tanking his stock (and earnings). My Google search may not be definitive, but that one team is trying to scare others away there is zero doubt. Only NFL teams would have this information so one of them leaked it on purpose. I hope that awful team isn't the Vikings. And I hope Jerry Jones gets all his draft picks taken away when we find out it's him.
  14. Absolutely not. In no way should it be a surprise. A 35-year-old reliever who's spent most of his career in the minors and had one good MLB season? Gabriel Gonzalez was always the only thing interesting about the Jorge Polanco trade. We can cut ties here and not worry about the optics.
  15. As a late Gen X kid who grew up constantly being told by the previous generation that my 80's-90's music, TV, movies, books and athletes all stunk and paled in comparison to THEIR music, TV, movies, books and athletes, I feel pretty immune to defensive posturing about these kinds of lists. Go, Buck, go. Hope you keep climbing that list. No sacred idols for me.
  16. Even in his down season, he still had the fourth highest OPS on the team last year. So yeah, he does give pretty good production. And if he gets that on-base percentage back up in the .370 range like it was 2023-24, he's a really good player to have in the middle of the lineup. Also lost in last year, he hit left handed pitching really well. He actually had a 20% K rate against left handed pitching vs a 30% K rate vs right handers. Baldelli shouldn't have been platooning this guy ever.
  17. Pablo has been great, and it was a good trade. But even if he's healthy, he'll a free agent at 32-years-old. Probably better to start looking for the next Pablo Lopez. Someone who's in their mid to late 20s.
  18. Outside of agents, I don't think the QB hype machine is going to find suckers this year. At this point I'm guessing Ty Simpson doesn't even go in the 1st. There's no Sheduer Sanders for people to have widely differing opinions on either. After Mendoza at 1, I think QB stuff will end up being background chatter. Which is great as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise they cause the most manufactured shock and indignation for the network wonks to tie themselves in knots over trying to get views and clicks. Frankly, I'm tired of the NFL trying to turn the draft into a soap opera.
  19. He’s very interesting, but I just don’t think a TE can meet his full potential in this offense.
  20. I’m thinking at this point, my preference is to trade the 1st for a 2027 1st +. Next years class looks to have potential for multiple franchise defining players.
  21. He’ll fall pretty far in the draft now. Maybe to the point where’s he’s a fun lotto ticket pick.
  22. Hopefully 5D chess.
  23. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-vikings-anthony-richardson-have-mutual-interest Um what? Anthony Richardson? So JJ McCarthy's 'competition' is the league's previous version of JJ McCarthy? I don't buy it. Either this is a leak from the Richardson side, or the Vikings are sending a message to the team's with QBs they REALLY want. Also, as much as I'd like a shift in offensive philosophy, KOC's offense isn't any more suited to a scrambling QB then McVey's or Shanahan's is.
