  1. I didn't even see that part. Washington knows that MLB has a lottery for the first pick right?
  2. Maybe it's preventable if they practice in Minnesota in February and March instead of Florida. Going from the cold to heat causes cramps, going from heat to the cold causes muscle strains. I don't think it's avoidable with stretching.
  3. Shulda pinch hit for him. Holy cow, just looked at the Washington roster. Gallo's batting 5th? Wow that is a really bad lineup. Their #3 and #7 hitters were MiLB deals with spring training invites. I feel like I need to reiterate that their #3 hitter was signed to a non-roster contract, if I say it again, will it make more sense? That's weird right?
  4. Ha, well, that would make it awkward to add him to the 26 man then!
  5. If Canterino is going on the 60 day, that opens up the job to anyone in the system. I'd still bet on Miranda or Camargo, but O'Keefe and Prato were among the last cuts. I'd put Helman in that group but he barely played the infield last year, and I don't think it's an OF they add. But maybe if Castro gets more 3B reps than Farmer. I'd really only want to add another catcher if it's an audition for the long term backup gig, but O'Keefe is the most cuttable if Lewis is expected to return soon.
  6. Severino and Martin both probably have a ton to prove still. I'd guess none of these guys play 3B though; Farmer and Castro probably get the gig in all scenarios. Edit: Also, it looks like Martin hasn't played 3B since college. He might not have the arm for it.
  7. Penix still isn't my guy, but he did run a 4.53 40 in his pro day. Obviously that's not elite, but it's still really good. Better than Nix, an waaaaay better than Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert. Guys like Teddy Bridgewater, Baker Mayfield and Tua Tagovailoa can also move, but refuse to, but there's a difference between being a statue in the pocket by choice or by ability. If he's open to picking up some 1st downs with his legs when the need arises, I'm open to him being on the Vikings.
  8. For what it's worth, Lewis wanted to stay in the game. Obviously it was the right decision to remove him though. I'm not all gloom and doom about it though; my money is on this not being a long term thing. Still, any pulled muscle early in the cold months of the season should hit the IL. I'm looking forward to another young guy getting an unexpected audition. Have to think it's going to be someone already on the 40-man. With Lewis down and Margot of all people picking up RH DH duties today, I doubt it's Larnach, so Miranda, Martin and Severino in that order seem like the most sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Camargo, who might make even more sense as that would allow Jeffers to DH and stay in the lineup every day. Plus if he shows he's capable and Vazquez becomes a competent hitter again, being able to move Vazquez later this summer and clearing some of his salary could bring back help in other areas for the stretch run.
  9. What sample size is smaller, at bats in spring training? Or the number of people who actually put any weight in those meaningless games?
  10. It was 30 whole at bats though, that's pretty much as conclusive as you can get.
  11. Can't believer Burdi has made it back, I hope he does well (and also hope the Yankees still lose every game). Both pitchers have significant control issues though. At this stage of their career, that seems unlikely to be fixed.
  12. The fact that there is already a discussion about putting both Jeffers and Vazquez in the starting lineup facing lefties, makes me think Brian O'Keefe will be the first player called up this year. I can't believe any part of that sentence could be true.
  13. Interesting. Since managers tend to bring left handed relievers in to face left handed batters, I'd guess most of that lefty lack of success was when he was a reliever with the Rangers as opposed to a starter with the Royals. But yeah, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement for Ragans. Or for a righthanded heavy lineup.
  14. If I had my druthers Margot, Vazquez, Santana and Farmer would maybe each start once a week and only to give the other players a day off, not to avoid learning to hit left handed pitching. That is until the better players in St. Paul come and take their jobs. I've come to terms with rarely getting my druthers though.
  15. I suppose if the rule is that left handed hitters need to be 30-years-old to hit against left handed pitchers, that means either Margot or Vazquez will be the DH in such games. Bomba Squad redux.
  16. Agreed. If these guys will only platoon that's how the rest of the league will see them and you're just throwing value down the drain.
  17. Wow, Jeffers in the two hole and they're already keeping Julien and Wallner from hitting against lefties?
  18. If the Twins relocated to Albertville and changed their name to the Aardvarks, they'd be in first.
  19. Whatever the percentages are, they're going to be significantly higher for the better QBs. And yeah, if that was the new onside kick, I could see KC doing it even in situations you normally wouldn't expect. The bad QB teams would be getting the short end of that deal by a significant margin.
  20. I know that's what Florio has been pushing, but I actually don't like that one. Teams with the best QBs would be at a significant advantage. That's probably like what, a 30-40% chance for success for KC but a 10% chance for Pittsburgh? I just think there's too much disparity in the play as the team with the best QB already has a built in advantage, than this would just compound that. Teams that build their offenses to be run heavy and control the clock would get screwed. Not that I want those kinds of offenses, but I don't want them to go extinct either since there aren't enough good QBs to go around as it is.
  21. Sounds like a lot of fun to me, but I like new things and I'm not opposed to switching things up if they aren't working. I also think this might not eliminate the surprise 'onside' kick aspect as much as the league thinks. The receiving team will have a 10 yard head start, but if the kicker can put the ball in a spot where it has to bounce first, there will be some mad scrambles for the ball. I think this could be a lot of fun.
  22. It would have taken way more than the 25M to get him two months ago, and I have no interest in him now after missing all of spring training. Those free agents haven't once worked out well for the Twins; this looks almost exactly like the Lance Lynn situation.
  23. I wouldn't be chummy with him if I had to pay off a 4.5M gambling debt of his either.....
  24. The only challenge will be to try to identify Juan Berenguer from a spammer when he joins the site to create his own page.
  25. I think the distraction is going to be bigger issue for the Dodgers than they think. Especially if the feds start requesting information and interviews. Hope MLB not putting him on the restricted list bites them in the butt in the long term.
