  1. I don't really consider "but they were wrong" a great rebuttal.
  2. That year, Reardon finished 8th in AL Cy Young voting and 11th in AL MVP voting. If he wasn't a good pitcher in 1987, that must have been an unbelievably bad year for pitching.
  3. So, what's your solution to fix this supposed racism against Dominican players? Don't test them? Test them less? Give them more of a warning before there's a test? Do away with testing altogether?
  4. You don't know what the Twins were asking for in order to trade Dozier, so how can you even make such a claim?
  5. Twins Daily is easily the best Minnesota sports website I've ever seen, and the excellent moderators are a key reason for that. Thanks so much!
  6. It's not over yet, but it looks likely that the Indians are going to be eliminated. I feel genuinely bad for them and their fans. This one is going to sting (way worse than what we felt last week.)
  7. Come on, brutha, don't get all semantic-y with me.
  8. Terry Francona was manager in 2011, Bobby Valentine in 2012. I'm not sure how Farrell "drove" the Red Sox from 90 to 69 to 97. As for 83 to 59 to 85 (I can't believe you're still on this), Molitor inherited a team that averaged 96 losses per year from 2011-14. Now they're a playoff team.
  9. Yeah, I really don't know what you're talking about in regards to the Astros, but it seems what you're trying to do is say the 13-win improvement from 2014 to 2015 shouldn't count towards Molitor's "net win" tally. Sorry, but you can't reasonably do that. If you insist on using "net wins" as a way to measure a manager's abilities, the correct number (as old nurse pointed out) is +15.
  10. Ignoring the Twins' record in the four seasons before Molitor took over I find ridiculous. But that's just me.
  11. Never look directly at it. It's like the Ark of the Covenant.
  12. But if you drive home sober, yet occasionally forget to use your right turn signal, and don't get in an accident 100 times in a row, are you doing something right then? That fits much better for what Molitor is actually doing. The love for bunting is an annoyance, but hardly pitchfork-worthy.
  13. It's the Ricky Vaughn vs. Eddie Harris conundrum. What would Lou Brown do?
  14. He's struggled in his last three starts (one of which he still completed six innings), yet in his previous 8 he was 4-2 with a 3.42 ERA (and averaging 6 2/3 IP per start). You don't just give the hook to guys who are going through a small rough patch, particularly when they've been so effective for you previously. What kind of message would that send to the team? I bet every one of those players consider Colon one the guys who got them to where they are now. How deflating would it be to see their manager now just toss that guy aside? Nope, not a smart move for a manager to make, not when they should be riding high and feeling good about being on the brink of the postseason.
  15. I think Souhan should've waited a week before dumping on Keenum. He looked damn good today.
  16. Quinton McCracken, which is just one hell of a name.
  17. Hmm, anybody mention John Smiley? Big trade, baby!
  18. Cool, then we don't have to get all worked up about them losing from now on. We can just enjoy them being in the playoff hunt! House money, baby!
  19. I originally voted for Hunter, but Hawkins has won me over big time. He's started to loosen up and have some fun in the booth. He's definitely my favorite of the five right now.
  20. And they just lost...by one run. I'm tellin' ya, it happens!
  21. That is correct. A 1.5-game lead in the wild card with 26 left to play? Sounds good to me. This is going to be a fun ride.
  22. I've seen playoff teams lose one-run games. It happens.
  23. I've never heard anyone accuse Dozier of lacking fire. That's definitely a new one for me. When was the right time to speak up? It's hard to complain about the team selling before they actually do so.
  24. Maybe he's suppressing the other players, maybe he's not sharing his knowledge, maybe he doesn't put in the proper work in the off-season... all of these "maybe" criticisms seem to have been entirely invented in your own mind, with all due respect. The "maybe" game can be played to make any player look bad.
