  1. Now you've gone too far.
  2. Not in any significant way, and certainly not in a way that can compete with the heavily negative discussions. I know you won't agree with that. That's fair enough. I just wanted to say my piece on this particular subject.
  3. Well, we could talk about Rosario adding 62 points to his OPS this season. We could talk about him walking more, striking out less, and just generally looking more like a legitimate MLB hitter. We could talk about the potential of Joe Mauer and Byron Buxton winning Gold Gloves this season. We could talk about whether or not Ervin Santana can get into the AL Cy Young conversation if he finishes the season strong. We could talk about Jose Berrios establishing himself as a top-of-the-rotation starter after struggling so badly his rookie year. We could talk about where this team would be right now were it not for Brandon Kintzler and Taylor Rogers. We could talk about Miguel Sano becoming that 40 HR/120 RBI guy we all hoped he could be. We could talk about where he fits in the AL MVP conversation, particularly if he carries the team into the postseason. We could about Max Kepler's progress. We could talk about what his ceiling is. We could talk about his defense. We could talk about that freakin' swing. We could talk about what a nice find Robbie Grossman turned out to be. ...or we could just talk about the bad stuff. This is the bottom line for me, and it's cool if we disagree on this: The team simply isn't bad enough to warrant so much negativity. Just my opinion.
  4. And if Gee moves on and bombs and Colon does well?
  5. Juan Pierre had over 2,200 career hits and over 600 SB. If that's Zack Granite's future, I'll take it.
  6. I wonder if it might be personal issues. He did go on the bereavement list earlier this season.
  7. Man, it's tough being a young player on this team. First Buxton gets the "get rid of him" treatment, now Polanco. It's a good thing Aaron Judge (who's over a year OLDER than Polanco) wasn't a Twin when he was struggling. Patience, people. Please.
  8. He's not as bad as he's been lately, but I'm still hoping the Twins let him walk after this season. Even when he's pitching well he struggles to keep his pitch count under control (he's completed 7 innings only once all season.) The strain he puts on the bullpen makes him too much of a liability.
  9. He's currently on pace for 29 homers this year. That ain't too shabby.
  10. Win % against AL Central teams - .571 Win % against non-AL Central teams - .563
  11. But we ARE one of those teams! 3. Minnesota Twins (24-18) 4. Baltimore Orioles (25-19)
  12. The Twins are currently on pace to win 89 games in 2017, a 30-game improvement from the year before. They're even in 1st place in their division. Then again, the team's manager did pinch hit one okay-but-not-great hitter for another okay-but-not-great hitter, SO OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!! I like Vargas, but let's not pretend he's Harmon Killebrew. And while we're at it, let's not pretend Escobar is Danny Santana.
  13. Dozier began the day second on the team in OPS, and now people want him benched for the utility guy? Tough crowd.
  14. The Twins currently have a winning record against teams not in their division. It's possible you're making too big a deal out of two losses to the Red Sox. Either that, or I'm vastly underrating the greatness of the Rays, A's, Angels, etc. Also, I seriously doubt any team is going to unload a top-shelf reliever in the middle of May, so trading Dozier now would get us, what, Matt Capps 2.0? Pass.
  15. Just win it in May, Ervin!
  16. Some other bright spots: -Robbie Grossman and .448 OBP. He's been proving the naysayers wrong, at least so far. -He hasn't gotten hot yet, but I like that Dozier seems to be doing a better job of hitting the ball to all parts of the field. He's no longer pulling EVERYTHING. -Of all the young players, Kepler was the one I was most worried about regressing in 2017 (he cooled off considerably after that monster series in CLE.) Thus far, he's been very solid. -Oh, and Kintzler hasn't turned into Kevin Jepsen (yet). That's certainly good.
  17. Team ERA has gone from 5.08 in 2016 to 3.51 in 2017. I'm willing to give Castro a slice of the "credit pie" for that.
  18. Okay, I'm officially impressed by Sano's defense.
  19. All those walks, and Grossman's not even in the lineup. That just seems wrong.
  20. Phil Hughes is currently on pace to win 26 games. Time for another extension, baby!
  21. Jorge Polanco is on pace for a 95-RBI season. Who needs Francisco Lindor?
