  1. I hate it too but..... https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless
  2. As usual in March hope springs eternal. So I'm expecting 190 IP, 3.25 and 1.10 ERA/WHIP with 200 strikeouts. Now as with most Minnesota sports fans there is that one part of your brain that refuses to be brainwashed and insists on trying to counterbalance the brainwashed part of your brain. So that part of my brain sees 100 IP with a sore something or other in there and a 4.50 ERA 1.50 WHIP. I hate that part of my brain and it hates me. So I'm still going with the hopeful projection.
  3. Is it? I admittedly don't look at these stats that often but it appears Eddie's hard hit % is the 2nd highest of his career.
  4. I don't know, he drives me crazy sometimes and I really want to see Kiriloff and more of Rooker but Eddie isn't quite as bad as you're making him out to be. His improvement this year as far showing more patience seems real. And if his BABIP were normal (.300-ish is normal where Eddie is at .235) I think his slashline would be fairly impressive. His defense is terrible though and that just doesn't make sense.
  5. The problem with this is that Cruz doesn't bat leadoff. He can't hit the first homerun if Kepler hits one first. So my answer is Kepler.
  6. Aaron Sabato is a great baseball name. Say that name out loud and you can imagine he's Clu Heywood like masher.
  7. I don't have particularly high hopes for either but Gordon should at least be close to ready (if he ever will be, which was maybe your point). 160+ games at AAA and he actually had a better year last year than I would've thought. That said I would imagine Adrianza is next up if Arraez were injured.
  8. "Maybe my wife and I will have a good long life together" he said right after the wedding "Or maybe she will start cheating on me with my brother and my car will explode leaving me horribly scarred and I'll get fired from my job and my dog will leave me after finding a better family and all of my limbs will start to aggressively rot away." You Minnesota Sportsfanned the HELL out of that man! It's not even March!
  9. It's not frivolous at all, there is inarguable evidence of wrongdoing and putting all of the evidence in public light and trying to hold the players accountable not only has value but seems pretty clearly the right thing to do. To me the ONLY reason not to do that is you want the story out of the news cycle asap. If there was video evidence of players injecting themselves with steroids I would bet that even Selig wouldn't have given the players immunity. This whole thing is very sad and Marwin Gonzalez is the first Twins player that I have ever disliked.
  10. No man, don't let the Minnesotaness take over. We can enjoy things!
  11. Love the enthusiasm but that is not how international spending works.
  12. As much as I love baseball is equal to the amount I hate baseballs unwritten rules. I disagree entirely with the notion that Jake Cave owes anyone anything. He is a hitter and he got a hit, if you don't like throw better pitches. I don't believe in throwing at players in any circumstance, it's dangerous and childish. That said I hope the Twins throw inside a lot more than necessary tonight and then throw down a bunt single followed by a steal when they're up by 10.
  13. I read this in a recent Keith Law chat, wondering if anyone has heard this from another source? Mike G: Worried about Royce Lewis’s slow start? Keith Law: About his start, no. About the changes to his mechanics – he’s gotten very noisy, with a hitch now and multiple triggers – yes.
  14. I really didn't expect a "meh" directed towards Martin Perez in this thread! I would be more cautious about his start if weren't for the noticeable differences in his pitching. His cutter is new this year and he's throwing it a lot. That and 2-3 mph on your fastball makes him a pretty different pitcher than the one we though we signed.
  15. There is a lot to like about this team but the lack of bullpen help this year, to me, is such an obvious mistake I kind of can't believe they didn't do anything about it. Every year you have guys that go from a near nobody to an impressive bullpen piece. The Twins seem to be hoping 3 or 4 guys do that. Even our one proven bullpen arm, Rogers, doesn't have a long history of sustained success. I think it's an easy decision to sign Kimbrel or to be very aggressive on the trade market as soon as you can.
  16. It's nice to have both a good, fun big league club and a good, fun minor league system. It seems likely that these guys are going to supplement an already good team rather than be forced to be the saviors. In 2007 Nick Blackburn was our #1 prospect, I wonder if he'd even make this top 20 now?
  17. It makes way, way too much sense to sign Kimbrel. The money and need line up perfectly and I find it frustrating that there hasn't even been a connection between the team and him. Hopefully they're meeting in a parking ramp late at night and no one knows.
  18. Let me get this straight - this team has missed the playoffs for 1 straight seasons and instead of signing a real bear that could maybe charge, attack or otherwise startle the opponent they sign this bum? A mascot bear who can’t even pull it together to run in the mascot race? Noooo, instead for him we have a designated runner (thank you Wanda, an actual athlete) so that TC can busy himself shooting fans, including children, with a cannon? Unconscionable.
  19. Only 5 pitchers in all of MLB hit 210 IP last year. Gibson and Berrios were both north of 190. This team has problems but I don't see their workload as one of them.
  20. I like the Grateful Dead a lot. People used to scream for Phil Lesh to get a chance to sing at Dead shows. Phil's voice was absolutely terrible. I say this to point out that die hard fans of things often have terrible takes on those very same things.
  21. Agreed, I very much doubt they're able to trade him. By most accounts the offers from last year when he had 1.5 years of service were already underwhelming. Now add in a bad season and only 2 months of ABs and I'm not sure we can expect anything of value.
  22. I love it when a prospect moves up a level and doesn't seem overly challenged by it. It's only 11 games but Kiriloff seems to fit right in at high A. Interested to see how quickly he can move next year. I think he could be the next Jason Kubel (but the edition that comes with real human knees)
